PROMETHEUS THE BIG BROTHER

Someone on the threads already noted the similarity between Ridley Scott's 1984-inspired BIG BROTHER TV commercial, and the massive God-like head in the ampule room. The Illuminati conspiracy freaks have linked PROMETHEUS to their theories about the Masters of the Universe believing they have stolen the gift of life from Gods. When you look at it closely, the conspiracists are not that far off the mark. One senses the notion of totalitarian control in the alien race's ability to manipulate genes. Could it be that the film, in this way, is about modern society, about the current moment. The best sci-fi is always a reflection of the present. One of the big reasons ALIEN was so powerful was its depiction of a colonizing civilization. Both the terraformers found on the derelict planet, and the spacemen on NOSTROMO, were engaged in colonization.
