"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

@craigamore, I didn't but kind of wish I did (for 3D modeling)
how did it work out for you?
April 28, 2012
Well Jim100a100, it was a great experience that I'm kind of missing at the moment, but I work in special education at the moment.....Out of left field that is, I know, but that's how it worked out for me I guess....

I hear ya, working in generally graphic design/production field myself, but would love to keep it in 3ds Max. We do what we can...
April 28, 2012
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love what I do, but I miss film sometimes...just wish I'd found a niche.....

it's NEVER too late - keep that in mind and take it from a late bloomer. Got a degree in something, worked in it for 15 yrs, before I decided to switch gears and do what I really want (the graphic design/3D stuff)

true Jim100a100....I know, I'm just thinking back on my time there....can't believe it was five years ago I left already...

Hey guys,
I was a featured original artist there from '78 until about '86... With the last couple years freelancing as an instructor/producer for their fledgling video production degree. I started way back in their storage warehouse on Douglas Ave. Jonesy was my bass player then. He runs the place now?!
I approached him to transfer production of my PBS kid's show from a local affiliate to their University Ave. location a year or so ago, but they passed on it. Oh well, we're starting season 4 at our own prod. facility now... Great times back in the day though.

Hey,
This is a shout-out to any forum member with 3D photo-realistic dinosaur animation skills. I help elementary and middle-school kids write and make (produce, direct, act in, and edit) a series of "Jurassic Park-like" movies in the summer through our local museum's summer program.
The only weak link is my (poser) animation skills... they leave a lot to be desired. If anyone is interested in sharing some of your work I sure could used some help in post with the anim. stuff.
You can YouTube search for "Dino. Inc." (movies 1-5) to get a sense of what I mean if you're interested.

Garry Jones... "Jonesy" from before. He's either president or CEO now. Great guy, I should've taken his offer to get in on the ground floor over there 30 yrs. ago!

No....my associations stayed at the proffesorial level...had a great time there...still wish I was doing film stuff sometimes, but I also love what I do now, so I;m all over the place....

He's very laid back... Or at least he was. Who knows what the pressure of running that place might do to someone.
As for the teaching gig, hey man, that's my bread and butter too. Been working with elementary - grade 12 with audio/video prod. for over 30 yrs. Now. Everything else is just a very time-consuming and expensive hobby as far as I'm concerned.
What were you studying in film?
April 29, 2012
I'm in Special education now as an aid and I absolutely love it....at Full Sail I wanted to get into writing and directing but never found a nitche....kind of love my heart for it....you know?
April 29, 2012
I really appreciate that..it is interesting workto say the very least...but it can be so rewarding....I can;t even fully explain it.....just wish it paid more.....and at leasty I can live out my adoration of cinema in a place like this.....I thank God for movies every day.....

As a person with a deep, unfortunate character flaw, in an almost complete lack of patience, I greatly admire anyone who can do the work you do.

Writing and directing... Both things I hear from others that I do well... But I absolutely loathe them both.
The art of Creative story telling... Awesome, inspiring, even breathtaking at times.
The hassle of identifying your 15 +- story beats and fitting your creative vision into a neat little industry standard format for studio shirts to comprehend... Complete BS in my opinion.
Directing... Ugh! Please somebody else put out the fires!
8 words you'll never hear from me: "... But what I really want, is to direct."
You have my utmost respect craigamore. Never give up the dream.
