Can you imagine how religious fundamentalists will take in the philosophy of this movie? They'll go mental. It's completely re-writing everything as we know it, okay it's just a movie, but it's a hell of a statement to make.
I love it.

Nothing you have quoted me on has any relation to your response. But go ahead, keep posting OT comments.
Do some research. Look at tangible evidence. That's all i can suggest.

Jesus, I guess I have to spell it out for you. You have clearly stated that you believe the civilizations mentioned above were referring to "Alien" visitors "from space". My post is an attempt (failed) to introduce you to the idea that the people who invent "gods" are speaking of human phenomena using the language of dreams (archetypes) as a rosetta stone. This accounts for the similarities between myths of different civilizations. Basic Joseph Campbell ideas.

But go ahead, keep hiding behind your silly Off Topic defense instead of engaging what I'm saying, 'cause god (sorry "Aliens from Space") knows nobody ever goes off topic here.

Im not hiding, im simply trying to be polite and point out the glaring holes in your logic and basis of truth.
As i said, do some research. Their deities are not all invented. Some were flesh and blood beings who actually taught them about the same spiritualism you claim i don't understand. Yes some may be pure myths, but just as many "clearly" state that they were visited, saved, and even created by the same entities all over the world. Joseph Campbell compared and the classified these myths using the framework of ideas prevalent during his time. He never posited that these myths never actually happened.
Follow your bliss.

Given that some would call me a religious fundamentalist, and I LOVE the ideas behind this film, I would have to say your premise is flawed.
I am secure enough in my beliefs to enjoy original stories from those who do not agree with them. I understand that this film is a work of fiction and can be enjoyed whether I believe in the philosophical/historical premises they set up or not.
I'm not going to go nuts because I don't believe this information is intended to be fact or change my entire world view. It is a story based on interesting concepts intended to entertain. I see it as no more or less than that.
I am offended that one would assume that simply because I ascribe to a certain system of beliefs, that I would not be able to deal with an opposing viewpoint in a rational and loving way.
Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!

@Galzu
All deities are invented by those who worship them. Without christians Jesus is just another guy, its the people who Love and look up to him that make him (a) God. Joseph Campbell posited the language of archetypes as a Rosetta Stone for understanding the religious ideas of a culture that is all I was referencing him for. All myths have actually happened in some way shape or form, that is what I mean when I say "human phenomena" in my previous post. The archetypal language is the means by which certain subtler and non-linear aspects of these actual occurances are expressed. They all have human roots at their origin.
