After seeing all the new footage, i cant help but think that the Cobra is very similar to a Sperm. The albino skin color and the fact its swimming in the black liquid support this too. The way it seems to target beings' heads/helmets leads me think its looking for an "egg". When a sperm reaches an egg, it releases different compounds that actually eat/melt a hole into the outer layer of the egg in order to get inside. This could be what is happening when the guys helmet melts all over his face. In another shot we see the "cobra" bursting out of the same crew member's face, probably because it realizes its not an egg. Another possibility is the Cobra "fertilizes" his head which mutates into an "egg" and a new creature (hybrid) bursts out of his face. It also resembles a Stamen from a plant. What we see unfurl is the Anther and it spread spores which infect (pollinate) the crew. Any thoughts?

I think that is a great observation of the "cobra". Do you have a screenshot of it bursting out of the crew member's face?

I am thinking that this Organism either implants something or alters someones brain, or it actually connects to the Brain. And thus it acts like a Trill from Star Trek. Thats why we find one inside the Space Jockey Head.

@bigDave Thats another good theory too. Reminds me of the worms that secrete the black oil in the Xfiles episode "Ice". They attach/feed off a particular gland in the brain, causing the hosts to try and kill each other. Theres an eerie line in that episode from one of the infected "We're not who we are. It goes no further than this. It stops right here, right now....", trying to explain his condition.
