A Director you'd like to see direct an Alien film?

Luc Besson, Paul Verhoven, Alfonso Cuarón..I don't think any of these are genre limited. I've seen all of them reach outside their showcase efforts.

Well for me on a visual level tarsem singh is up there but on an emotional level aronofsky could do the business, I think there are many i would like to see have a go at a space saga ridleys brother tony scott could be good he would give it a continuity as he knows his brother better then anyone else and his techniques i suspect, or even oliver stone, that would be a new territory for him to investigate.

I can't think of anyone who could handle the look and feel of Alien in style.... other than Ridley...just can't do it.

hmm, just checked Whedon on IMDB - he was a writer on ALIEN 4? I might have to retract that statement...

i want Chris Cunningham his direction for Bjork and Aphex Twin are truly iconic he was at one time, on the directors roster at Black Dog Films. so Ridley Scott digs his work. now if only Ridley would give Chris a fair shot at directing a sequel should there (hopefully) be one

Chris Cunningham worked on Alien 3. He walked into the studio with an animatronic he'd made and they gave him a job on the spot. Uncredited though. Think it was his first film job. He also worked on AI (pre-speilberg) and - *sigh* - Judge Dread.

To do any Alien film justice you need a perfectionist and visionary director, as was the case with Ridley Scott and Jim Cameron, so with that in mind my suggestions would be... 1. Guillermo del Toro - A True Visionary 2. David Fincher (yes I know he did Alien 3, but look how much he's matured since). 3. Guy Ritchie - Sherlock Holmes 1 & 2 4. John McTeirnan - A damn good director with a keen eye. 5. Trent Reznor - I think he'd do a damn good job and two bonus ones... 1. Clive Barker - His work has a lot of parallels to the Alien mindset. 2. Steven Speilberg - I know, but he understands how to evoke emotion more than most.

Actually BD I think Savini would probably do a decent job with a low-key Alien script.

hard to tell, bacause any director would have to bow into the alien universe in any case, so ´his´style would be influenced.. I´d like to see a dramatic, post-apocalyptic, quite dark version like Terminator 4, where people not only would have too struggle surviving but fighting Aliens, to..;) wow..

Snorkel, you had me until Guy Ritchie and Speilberg. IMO, Ritchie is a one-note director. Loved his first 2 or 3 movies, after that it's all the same. I don't think he has the touch to direct a sublime horror movie. And Speilberg would just ruin it with a sappy ending. He can't help himself.

Neill Blomkamp David Fincher Darren Aronofsky David Cronenberg Nicolas Winding Refn But please stay the HELL away from James Cameron and Michael Bay. They have their merits and make fun-as-hell movies, but I don't want them working on Alien films. @Snorkle Trent Reznor???? I mean Reznor, Giger, and R. Scott are the 3 artists/people that have most inspired me. But Trent really has no film directing credits...He may potentially be a great director but I'd like to see him on a smaller project before giving him a director's gig on a major motion picture. I would definitely have liked for him and Atticus to have done the soundtrack for Prometheus. I was hoping it would happen, but knew it likely wouldn't.

D Cronenberg for sheer body horror splatfest. C Nolan for something slightly more cerebral.

yeah, Nolan and Cronenberg are good choices. Both can handle a big-budget movie like this. I like Refn, but his stuff is a little off-kilter. Kubrick could do something like this in his sleep.
