How would you end it?

MemberOvomorphMay 03, 20122269 Views32 RepliesThis is going to be the event of the year in my opinion (TDKR? pfft)...and I think everyone on the production knows they are onto gold dust here....so its inevitable we will have a second movie in my opinion....but how would you end it?
How would you leave the audience wanting more, when would you roll the credits knowing that everyone has been in the palm of your hand for 2 hours? The spinning top moment in Inception for instance. The climax to Empire Strikes Back.....how do you lay the foundations for the next film...or do you just hope it neatly ties up to the events of Alien and be done with it?
Just some fun...post here

It's never been done in cinema history before as far as my memory and knowledge serves but I would turn the projector off 5 minutes from the end of the film and make some kind of announcement telling everyone they would have to buy another ticket for a sequel if they wanted to see the ending.
The sequel would then start by showing the last 5 minutes of the previous film. I have no reliable information on this practice but my gut feeling tells me it's only a question of time before franchises start adopting this reinvention of the cliffhanger of old.

I would create such a pull from relaxed viewing to total terror, get to know the crew and watch them perish, allow some room for those left alive to go into survival mode, and then bring out the 'big guns' to take the survivors out completely. Then, the last eight minutes of the movie I'd recap on my famous films in a montage! lol Just kidding.
I am putting a lot of faith in RS to really go for gold on this one. The second half of the film should make you want to crawl under your seat and ask your friends/mates if it's ok to look!
I like your idea of a climatic build toward the end, left with a cliff hanger! Perhaps we will all be brought to the edge of said cliff, and get the mindset to want to jump?

I always love a "No F***ing Way" moment at the end of my sci fi films, like in "Planet of The Apes" when they see the Statue of Liberty!! OMG....the derelict ship on LV-426:OO

I wouldn't end it.... I would churn out sequel after sequel after sequel in true Hollywood fashion.... Endings don't keep the money coming, honey....

a total good end for once ...
David cooking ...shaw and holloway kissing each other ...vickers playng with their little kid "squiddy" ... janek and fifield drinking a beer ... grandad Weyland watching tv with a cat on his legs ... Milburn playng with a little cobraarmhugger in the garden ...
jokes apart is really difficult to find a great ending avoiding the same cliches .

I know this is WAY out there sooo here it goes....
We see this climatic scene where Shaw is running for cover. Leaving Vickers behind and trying to hide from the ensuing Space Jockey. Shaw runs back into the temple, in a frantic attempt to find a place to hide she stumbles upon a room.
Inside this room she notices a suit hung up in the far back. The suit is something that she and the crew of prometheus have not seen when first exploring. In the distance she hears the impending doom awaiting her.
She gives the suit a look. Appears to be made for someone her size. Very futuristic, seems to be a combination of human space suit and the engineers technology.
On the side of the suit is a button on the wall. She presses said button and the area lights up. Suit lowers to her level. The suit opens up. Shaw then turns around backs up into the suit. The suit begins to close around her, encasing her. Something she didn't notice is that the suit only had one hand, and where her right hand would be is a "cannon" of some sort.
As Shaw is trying to figure out what and or how this suit works, she hears something. The door at the other end of the room opens up. Shaw's pursuer is standing there before her. Suddenly the helmet on the suit shoots down a visor, in turn giving Shaw complete control.
Space Jockey goes running towards Shaw. Shaw raises her cannon arm, her visor on the helmet flashes green. *Charging* sound comes from the cannon and WHOOSH!! Blast of energy hits its target. Screen cuts to black, credits role.
This is totally my fantasy for having a metroid tie in.

it would have it end wide open for a sequel, now the trick is,
making it so the audience is left with a certain sense of satisfaction,
yet wanting to see more and more
i wouldn't wall all my questions answered
not having seen the film yet, i can't really say how i'd end it exactly
and i agree with you on TDKR. lol!

I'd be happy with this: P R O M E T H E U S ending

I would want some of the old questions I have answered, not all but some, with enough information about the rest of my questions to be able to mull them over for another 20 years, but at the same time would want there to be enough for me to start asking new questions altogether about the universe Ridley has created here......

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

I thought I heard (/it-was-established) that Ridley has intended this to be a "two-parter". Prometheus1-BladeRunner2-Prometheus2? We just may get an unbelievable cliffhanger at the end of this one.
BTW, I can't believe I cannot buy tickets to Prometheus yet. All the feature said was to keep on checking Fandango and when it appears there then they're for sale. I checked Fandango last night and it only goes up to the end of May. I won't buy them from Fandango because I despise the fees, but it at least tells me that the movie theater is selling them.

@LV426JGPFM: Great idea for an ending! It would definitely work!
The ending as I see it would have the surviving members of the Prometheus crew hauling @$$ through space trying to get back to Earth as a Space Jockey ship has already lifted off and is well on its way back to Earth. But, the problem is they have another Space Jockey ship tailing them, but the crew is unaware of that. What's worse, they have limited resources(i.e., weapons, food, and air). What's more, they'll have to go into cryosleep for the trip home, thus making them even more vulnerable for an attack. But, the ultimate kicker would be that one of the crew(say Vickers) has been infected with the DNA for the Xenomorph and the creature bursts out of her chest when she's out of sight....

This could possibly be a bit too cheesy, but here goes.
How about, that the temple was built on the site of an archeological dig carried out by the Engineers. At the end we are show some sort of chamber that contains one urn. On the walls of the chamber/room there is a story depicting how the Engineers when out looking for their ancestry to discover this urn that contains the secrets of bio engineering, and is the ultimate source of their own technology. The temple was built on top to cover up this treasure, and possibly distract visitors from investigating further. But somewhere in this room with the urn, is a logo for Weyland Industries. so, Who are the Gods?

To add to this....
Not only is the logo for Weyland Industries, it is actually the Weyland-Yutani logo hinting at time travel..... ; )

Of course it would have to tie to Alien in some way. However, what I always find amazing in films is how certain directors show you a scene, and you think you understand it. Then when you're shown the entire scope of events towards the end of the film-you realize that your initial thoughts were completely wrong.
The only thing we truly know from Alien is that there was a ship on a planet with the Space Jockey petrified to a cannon looking device. There's a cargo that seems to have infected the host.
People tend to say that the Prometheus ending is completely known by I digress from any such conclusions. We don't know the entire story.
How would I like it to end? Something that makes that scene from Alien more frightening or completely wrong from our initial thoughts.

I haven't been slaving away and reading all the discussion topics on the site but I recall hearing Prometheus lands on one of LV-426's moons. I could see and ending that mimics Alien 3 in that everyone dies and as seen in the trailer Vickers has to use an escape pod to get off Prometheus. I think Vickers is infected with whatever the Space Jockey's have stolen or are trying to protect and Vickers crash lands on LV-426 and bobs your uncle intro to Alien.
