IMAX 3D Trailer Before The Avengers

it is gorgeous! And I agree with you about Shaw's medpod, the depth there is just amazing. I saw it on Wrath of the Titans 3d, for sure going to go see the Avengers 3d to be able to see the Prometheus trailer again! Thanks for the info

Did anyone see "both" the IMAX 3D and Real3D versions of the trailer? If so, which looked better in your opinion?

Just to clarify, PROMETHEUS is filmed with 'proper' 3D cameras, whereas AVENGERS is merely a 'conversion'...so the trailer is bound to look better than that movie. However, there was no PROMETHEUS trailer in front of the RealD showing of AVENGERS myself and the family went to a few days ago here in the U.K., and I'm STILL bummed about it!! Anyway, AVENGERS was pretty neat, and to be honest, I thought it had a great 3D 'conversion' overall...but PROMETHEUS will look truly fabulous in 'proper' 3D I'm sure.

This is a big issue for me. I believe if it is not shot in 3D it is not a 3D movie as no matter how good the conversion is, it is not the same quality. The vast majority of 3D films are of the converted variety and I believe studio ads and at the theaters they should have to list if the film was shot in, or converted to 3D.

I will not see/support a 3D conversion movie, therefore, I refused to see Star Wars Ep.1 in 3D as I will refuse to see Ep. 2 & 3......and I am a fanatical Star Wars fan. I also don't like the touch-ups they made in the re-releases of 4, 5 & 6. I don't believe that movies, once made, should be re-touched. I understand that they needed to be remastered/restored, etc. Same goes with the merchandising. I used to own all the original Star Wars stuff. After RotJ, girls were more important so the toys went to my younger brother. When they began doing re-releases of the toys in 95, I had career & lots of money so I bought EVERYTHING (one to open and one to keep pristine), but it started becoming ridiculous with re-re-re-re-releases. I felt I was being taken advantage of. So, I let the kids take what they want. Sent certain figures to friend's children that I knew they loved (i.e. Darth Maul) and I proceeded to sell EVERYTHING that was unopened. I can't get rid of the stuff fast enough, but I did have some real gems from a life-size Yoda (sold and has become a local comic store's gem) to an 8ft Naboo Starfighter (still hanging in the kids room). I love Star Wars. I hate what they're doing to MY franchise. Stop the whoring!!!

When they do the 3D conversions, it just looks like layers of flat pictures, not like when they shoot it in 3D which isn't flat looking.

I wish there were more movies like Prometheus, Blade Runner, Alien, Aliens and Terminator 2, but most of what we are going to see is just silly bouncing cartoon Spidermans instead, that's just the way it is. Ridley should make the Foundation Trilogy if you ask me.

I havent been around much in the last week or so, but just wanted to add in a comment about Avengers!! The hype this movie has received in literally unbelieable with even critics that normally do not go for this type of flick raving about it !???????... I really dont quite understand this, but hey, a good popcorn movie for the summer is always a good thing. They are prediciting its going to hit $1 BILLION gross ticket sales anytime! and it literally SMASHED the all time North American debut weekend box office record at over $200 MIllion in just a few days. Geez, I hope just a tiny fraction of whatever Avengers has in terms of audience draw makes it to potential Prometheus show goers. Its good to see that Prometheus trailers are being promoted at the beginning of all the current 3D releases. Its probably a GOOD THING that the original Prometheus April/May release was bumped to June. It would probably have been killed if it had gone up against Hunger Games & Avengers.

Can you tell us about the Aspect Ratio of the Trailer? Did you see top and bottom black bars (2.35 : 1) or did the footage cover all the screen? If you can remember, of course. Thank you in advance! Regards
