OFFICIAL: David will be able to read the dreams of the Prometheus' crew members

Clearly they intend for David to be able to do this, but it’s an horrific invasion of privacy and it seems *very unlikely* to me that this technology will/would actually exits in this timeline. Oh well, I’d better get ready to suspend my disbelief even further. This is essentially mind reading, and if the Engineers are able to communicate DIRECTLY with David in some way, it means they might have a tremendous advantage over humans in the events as they unfold in the film. This is definitely going to push my envelope for mind-ph^!€k-ery.

yes, this and the image was posted by biomechanic in the thread someone above has linked in this thread, i don't see the need for it. Biomechanic was right, end of, but we knew that 4 days ago.

@ allinamberclad; On Biomechanic's "David Reading Dreams" link I added here, HAL 9000 wrote something really interesting. "Official"? And how is this, "proof", of anything bar a link has been established with a Neuro-Visor? It could just be that a remote display from chamber to visor is active - presumably so that he doesn't always have to actually be in that room to monitor functions? What if he's only in the room on that occasion to wake them up? I don't follow how you get from, "Neuro-link established", to, "he is reading dreams".

Oops, I thought this was an official forum thread, that the dream reading was confirmed. *blush* Well, the link I posted has a huge amount of information, a very good read and many links within to back up the theory. :)

@Svanya: Cheers for including me there. I was carrying that theory around with me for a while as I was waiting for the right facts to proofe it. Then I remembered the VR helmet popping up on Weyland Industry's site for about half a day. Bingo, I thought. But the genius Biomechanic still beat me to it! Actually, since the topic came back up again I want to go just a bit further. Does anyone of you peeps who have been around here for a while remember the (I believe still unconfirmed) rumours of a filming location in and around the brand new filmstudios of [url=http://www.alienprequelnews.com/2011/08/prometheus-filming-in-spain.html]Ciudad de la Luz [/url] in Alicante, Spain? The crew were meant to film a scene on a futuristic looking yacht. The studios provide facilities like a huge open-sea watertank as well as pristine beaches nearby. Could that maybe be part of the dream sequence from Shaw's childhood? I know it's been said that Fassbender, Pearce and possibly Theron were expected to do scenes there, but it could have been a smoke-screen. Anyone got any info about it or thoughts on that?

HAL 9000 Can it be that David will be reading the minds of more people? I didn´t know about the "futuristic yatch", but then I found this in [url=http://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/index.php?topic=40010.0]AVPGalaxy[/url]: "[i]There will be a scene where a huge ship (they say yacht) is caught in a storm[/i]" Now, I really have no clue, but I think of Shaw more as the fruit of middle or working class people. I mean, I can´t see her father having an yatch. So maybe there is fire under the smoke: maybe the rumours of Pearce and Theron filming in this set means that David also reads Vickers dreams...and maybe he see an encounter of Vickers and Weyland in the yacht (I really don´t have a clue about the role of the "storm").

@centrosphere: Good point you have there. But yet again, if Pearce, Fassbender and Theron were supposed to be in those scenes, who's dream could it have been then? Officially, Weyland is still believed not to be aboard the Prometheus (I personally doubt that) and I don't think David would dare, not even enter Vickers' chambers in an attempt to read HER dreams. Yeah the mention of the storm seems odd. But since we have only seen about 6 minutes of footage (compressed), it might well be one of those surprises no one of us has got the slightest clue about yet. The AVP link also came up in my google search but since AVP does not exist in my world, I preferred to use the one where I originally read it. No offense AVP fellows ;-)

@HAL 9000; Np at all, I ALWAYS, always give credit to posts I link or copy/quote. It's a matter of respect in my opinion. Also, don't forget Weyland thought of David like a son, so he would have probably been in very close proximity to Weyland at all times.

@Svanya...Amazing pic, I predicted earlier and stand by this still...Shaw will Kill Vickers, Murder her actually because I think she will find out Vickers is a traitor or a spy... I just wondered if Maybe she will get whatever Info she does on why she has to do this from David now who may have been reading not just her dreams but her mind as well. and I Like this a Lot...I think the odds of this happening in the film are now heavily in my favor.

Alright, well... I've got one very important question. Why the HELL would this be a feature aboard the ship? Why would David be able to access the crewmembers' dreams? Neuro-Vision Link... WTF? My first assumption, off the top of my head; to keep their minds in check, because they're in hypersleep for 2 years. Making sure they're stable. I just hope that David doesn't affect the outcome of the movie/story TOO much because of his perversion (clearly, he's going to lose it at some point, another typical case of android with a more deep thought-process/self awareness). I don't want his actions taking many of the things of the movie into effect; effecting the outcome of the movie, basically, what happens in general. The bio-mutagenic material turning him into a human, sure. Him influencing an Engineer? NO! I have the feeling as if he's going to behave like a rabid animal, gone out of control... The sooner that Engineer rips off his CAGE, the better :D.

@HAL 9000, I think David is predestined to play the role of the "enfant gaté". I don´t see him as coy enough to not going to read Vicker´s dreams if he can. Alas, maybe this is protocol procedure, as Prenihility said. We already know that he has a monitoring role during deep space flight; from the 15 minutes footage people describe, we know that he enters Vickers chamber, only to discover that she is already active just out of the hypersleep chamber. @Svanya, Lovely picture!

Oh I wish I could go back in time about 1 year where I didn't know anything about this movie... David, come here in an instance and erase those bits, would you?

ekk.... i may have to rethink ordering 2 david8's. i have some pretty bizarre dreams so i wouldnt want them conspiring against me. funnily enough i even had a couple dreams of seeing prometheus in the theater and both dreams were pretty terrible.

LOL well i had 2 dreams so **SPOILER ALLERT**** the first one started out with the promethus crew going to the alien planet.. then they run into a "grey" that looks like roger from american dad... then he diverts them to a planet of other greys and goofy looking xeno morphs and it turns into a huge PG goofy muppet looking musical movie. i kept screaming in the theater "ARE YOU FKING KIDDING ME!!?? WTF IS THIS CRAP!!??" and then the screen goes black, and nothing but glowing white text comes up that says "I got you, dumb asses, thanks for your money. Sir. Ridley Scott" the second dream ***SPOILER ALLERT*** was of a huge solid black slug monster that looked like a leach but with stick like limbs having hardcore sex with shaw 10 minutes into the film so i threw my popcorn on the floor while saying "....gross dude" and walked out and asked for my money back.

you wish you hadnt read that, i dreamed that crap! i have many beliefs of dreams and meanings, they can be very meaningful and some of it is random information replayed by the brain.... but for some of it, like i get.. is random weird crap out of no place. i would never think anything like that would happen in the movie so wtf? lol. my prime example of random brain crap is my most memorable dream ever: i had a dream were i was someplace ive never seen before being chased by a flock of flying vampire hamsters in dracula capes that were the size of guinea pigs. i would love for one of those dream analyzers to explain that one.

Shaw is actually the last person we need to see the dreams of, it is Vickers who has all the secrets, the one who is potentially the most dangerous.

Hey Bella I feel with you there, no worries. I get a nasty shark dream about 2-3 times a year... since 20 years or longer! Keeps coming back and bugging me...
