I've pretty much been on this site daily for the last 4 weeks and haven't seen this posted before so my apologies if this has already been discussed. If you check out the Terraforming page on the Weyland Industries website and have a look at the Atmosphere Processor, this appears very similar if not identical to the structures of Hadley's Hope. There's a Power Loader on the site too which has previously been discussed. Both the Power Loader and the Atmosphere Processor were created for Aliens, not Alien, so the fact they are on the film's official site shows a strong link. I know there have been previous threads suggesting that RS considers everything after Alien non-canon, but evidence appears to be mounting that that this is not the case and that RS does consider James Cameron's effort as part of the greater Alien mythology. Personally I like this connection as I enjoy both Alien and Aliens equally, but for different reasons. What do you think?

"Agreed, but the case in point is that they had to go to a different place to find it, 30 years on. They may have gone back to the scene of the crime....what they find there will largely depend on what happens in this film, I'm guessing not much if they are still searching, perhaps shaw or vickers or whoever survives in a cryo pod This was the dilemma I had when thinking about a sequel, do you focus it on the 30 years in between, the return to lv223, but then surely it would still arrive at the same dead end because of the 'lack of the specimen' problem, or do you leave enough story left that it occurs in the same time frame with as,e protagonists." That's perhaps why Ridley said that Prometheus wasn't a prequel. Ridley Scott has got himself in a mean dead end, by saying he did not put Prometheus in the aliens franchise, after all didn't he confirmed the D in Weylan-Yutani?

Now you see, this is where I'm having trouble with seeing a sequel to Prometheus. If this 30 year gap between Pro and Alien is correct and the Derelict in Pro is indeed the ship from Alien, then the trailers have pretty much answered one of my questions. The Derelict takes off to Hiroshima Earth, The Captain dude sacrifices his life to ram the ship and prevent it from reaching Space. Shaw is one of the few survivors without a ship running as the Derelict comes crashing back down to the planet. What happens next? Does Shaw pull a 'Ripley, take a nap and wait for the network to pick her up? Just say that happens, or that icy blond survives. Either way, somehow the 'Fuckin' Company' is gonna learn about the ship. Then let's jump to 'Alien 30 years later. The Company cons a low profile group of truckers to do their dirty work for them. I can't accept that the Company would wait three decades to check it out. And I also don't accept that Weyland is in charge of everything. In this, I'm buying into what Cameron suggestion in 'Aliens' that the ICC (Interstellar Commerce Commission) (run by the Colonial Government) appointed government legislation to varied Companies (Weyland, Hyperdine....Wal-Mart) on what Companies (and their corporate forces) can and cannot do. So...if Shaw or Robot lady survives, relays the tale of giant humans, goo and monsters- Wouldn't the ICC quarantine the planet??? The Nostromo would have been facing down a TASK FORCE from the Colonial Navy. 'Do not approach or you'll be blasted out local space" ect ect. Conclusion; (That I can draw) Everybody dies, including Shaw. The only other mystery I can think of is that bloody distress signal/warning in Alien. Who sent it? The Jockey? Shaw? Blondy? And why? Jockey = "Come on down, check out my cargo hold! Say hello to my little friends..." Vickers = "Its here! The goods are here!" Shaw = "We were so wrong...keep away...blah blah" 'Course if Shaw knew about Company duplicity. (would make sense, evil corporations showing their true colors are a constant in RS films) the last thing she'd want to do is send anything that would lead greedy evil humans to the treasure chest.
