Weyland mentions M Theory at TED

He mentions that in the 21st Century that Bio-tech, Nano-Tech, Fusion and Fission are accepted. I can understand why all of those could (and should) be included for the movie to work (ie in the creation of androids, making space travel to constellations possible etc).
He also mentions M Theory which is an extension of string theory where it is accepted that there are 11 different dimensions. If M Theory is proven (and particularly as he mentions it) surely this has to be a major part of the movie! How can we have accepted that there are 11 different dimensions and not have it affect everyone's everyday life?
Any comments people?
