May 08, 2012Hi All
I am glad for the potential 15 rating here in the UK - although 12A rated films manage to push things quite far nowadays, after seeing the launch trailer on Channel 4 last weekend, I knew immediately there was no way it was going to be a 12A - could you imagine some parent taking their 5 year old to see it! You wouldn't be able to hear the film for all the crying! Wish I was being sarcastic - I was working in a cinema when The Dark Knight was out - had so complaints from parents that it was too violent etc for a 12A - well, it wasn't our decision!! The R rating in the US COULD impact its box office take - the people of forums like this will have to make sure they go and see it more than once - even if it is a disappointment (I am sure it wont be) - if you want to see sci-fi of this type and scale again, people need to go and see the film - lots of times - that is how Avatar, Hunger Games, Avengers etc make huge money - repeat viewings - one viewing will not cut it. It needs to make at least 100 million at the US box office on opening weekend - I think it will do great internationally anyway. I am off work for a week from June 1st so plan to see it at least twice opening day then if it is great have no qualms on seeing it every day!!
