I don't think that I would... it's just not the same watching a film on a TV or Laptop as it is on the big screen! Funnily enough I had this same discussion with a friend from Uni the other day!

Nothing because 9/10, those movies don't get DVD releases before Theatrical. Not even to Studio Execs. They sit them in a room and watch it, until the movie gets released.
BUT
IF BY SOME MIRACLE
still nothing
Because that would be dumb. PAYING to be a pirate- yeah right.

Agreed taylor. My Dad was just telling me yesterday when we were talking about prometheus coming out, about the time a few decades back when VHS first came out that cinemas started to close because of the Home Video boom!

Tricky question.
Now I would say I wouldn't want to buy/see it, but I am just 18 days away, so it's really hard to say.
In any case I wouldn't want to pay much because I would wait to buy the original/deluxe version, so any bootlegs would be wasted money for me.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

It would be insane to do it, the 3D alone is enough reason to see it in Imax where is where ill be opening night, nothing like it, I want to "experience" this movie

Great question! However, I don't feel like my 26" SHARP without surround sound is sufficient for this upcoming visual masterpiece. If I had a 50" top-notch 3D TV complete with a Bang and Olufsen surround system (believe me, that is expensive stuff) I wouldn't hesitate a second to buy a bootleg copy, provided It's superb quality of course. I would pay.. maybe $50 max, since It's a copy.

Grindolf - I couldn't agree more, although... seeing as my next pay has got to go on rent I'll maybe have to do what I did with the avengers and sit in the row in front of the D-Box seats so that I get the same experience, but without having to pay extra ;)

Charles Montgomery Weyland (aka NoXWord)
Personally, you can't beat the cinema with it's sound and a packed midnight audience and Imax 3D.Prometheus is already more than a movie...it's an event!
By the way.Great name and superb avatar.!!

I would never ever buy it before hand and at this point I'm waiting for the film to come out no way I'm spoiling it. 3 Months ago I would have but not now, no way no how.

Ok please be honest folks, how on earth would you be able to resist if it's for free, let's say a high quality torrent for example? I do agree though that there's indeed a conflict I'd have to face. I would think about it for a long time. But I see it this way: I'd love to focus entirely on the story in (hopefully) all its complexity, to really get behind the plot and Ridley's vision.
Then, when it is being released I would go and watch it I don't know... 10x times or more just in the cinema alone, knowing the story AND being absolutely blown away by the visual impact!! I've seen ALIEN probably about 15x by now, 3 times on a big screen alone, numerous times from my DVD collection, bought shitloads of merchandise i.e. models, collectibles, etc... What I want to say is that I did my part, in terms of cash contribution to it and I don't mind it at all.
And I'm pretty sure this will multiply by tenfolds for Prometheus, and I'm more than happy to spend money on it like crazy!!

Spartacus
Yeah i know what you mean man,it's so close.June the 1st. I probably would have months ago and felt morally upset with myself for less than 2 seconds.

I am going to buy DVD in September anyway so hoping that official DVD is not edited and released with ratings for my country. That will be double-disappointment for me.

P.S: Maybe it's just utter bullshit what i just said, and I want to be blown away on ALL levels first time 'round seeing it... Oh god, my mind goes blank!

I would.
I hate movie theatres. I'd rather watch at home where i can pause, actually eat [vegan, so eating at a movie theatre is completely out of the question, beyond that the shit they serve does not class as food but more concentrated bad fats, grease and salt. Fucking disgusting.], piss without missing anything, not have to deal with cellphones, not have to deal with mouth breathing teenagers that work there, not have to deal with crowds in general. Plus I work crazy weird hours so movie theatres are actually difficult for me to attend. I am lucky there is a midnight showing opening day, seriously it is the only showing i could make for a month and I would have ended up not seeing it in an ideal quality.
May 13, 2012
,,,,,"a superb quality ",,if only
Hell yes , just to play back certain points in the movie and enjoy it on my big screen alone , Then, i would still go to the movie so that Mr Ridley gets his far pay out of me

I mean, really, people. The illegality of what you're suggesting aside ... according to Wikipedia, the budget for Prometheus is in the $100-$150 million range (USD). People invest in movies like this because they can make money doing so, not because they're "kewl" or to please the "fanboyz". By purchasing bootlegs, you're reducing the incentive of producers with big pockets to finance them. If you like big-budget movies like Prometheus and want to see more of them in the future, don't support the bootleg market ... it's simple economics. And if you're too cheap to cough up the money for the official DVD, get yourself a Netflix account (or find a friend who has one) and wait.
