MemberTrilobiteMay-14-2012 1:38 PMAlien Revelations (working title) is the screenplay I am currently working on (among others).
It is set directly after Alien 3. Telling the story of the Weyland-Yutani vessel from Alien 3, heading to LV-426 after leaving Fiorina 161. The story is two-fold...
1. The official and unofficial missions on LV-426 - Investigate the damage to the Atmosphere Processors and Colony, and Investigate the Derelict spacecraft.
2. A serious of flashbacks explaining some, but not all elements of the first 3 films that may not have been answered, or were open to speculation.
Heres a taster of the intro...
20th Century Logo montage...Pan camera up to a starry backdrop above the logo. Production Credits fade in and out on the screen as the title of the movie slowly appears on screen a la ALIEN. Meanwhile in the background on the right side of frame a star seems to slowly moving towards camera. As the title is half-formed the star becomes apparent to be a slowly approaching space vessel, similar in shape to the USS Sulaco.
End Credits, Title fully formed as "Alien Revelation" (working title) as the approaching vessel approaches our view. Vessel sweeps across screen in extreme close up, white lettering showing the ships designation "INVICTUS" (thanks Sparky). Continue sweeping towards the rear of the vessel. Camera shake as the glowing hot engines roar past the screen. We see the Invictus is passing a small moon/planetoid, approaching a second, with a smaller third body seen in the distance as a crescent, and in the background is a large, ringed Gas Giant.
Interior. Pitch Black, lights flicker into life revealing the room to be Hypersleep Chamber. Once fully lit a hiss of smoke emits from each hypersleep pod before the glass lids lift open and the crew stare awake. Camera turns away from the waking crew, slowly exploring the vessel, lights activating in synch with the cameras arrival - Pass clothes lockers. Pass dining hall. Pass vertically positioned stasis pods, each one occupied by an inactive Bishop synthetic, one with his right ear half away from its head, congealed red blood-like liquid in the wound - text on the pods:
Bishop II
R-Class Synethetic
Pass through corridors. Enter Bridge. Crew arrive from behind camera, each taking their positions and performing their roles, matter-of-fact announcements of their actions...
- Geosynchronized Orbit established
- Preparing hull for entry
Cut outside vessel as the various protuding elements are retracted into the vessel and covered by heavy, thick panels.
- Velocity at 60%
- Distance to target 15 kilometres
- Altitude 2000 feet
- Commencing entry in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Cut to show the Invictus entering the orbit of the planet, its lower hull glowing red, then yellow, then white.
- 12 kilometres
- 1800 feet
- Hull Temperature 1000 degrees C (guessing there)
- 11 kilometres
- 1650 feet, entering upper stratosphere
- Commencing hull normalisation in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Cut to outside vessel as freezing vapour is emitted from the hull cooling it from entry into the planetoids atmosphere.
Commentary from the bridges crew continues as the vessel slowly flies in and descends. Landing in a large, flattened plateau, dirt and dust kicked up from the landing hiding the view of the landscape of the planet. The hydraulics of the ships landing groaning and operating under the weight of the vessel.
Interior. Crew orderly leave the bridge arriving in the mess hall, silently acquiring their food from the vending machine and orderly sit at the dining hall table. Ships executive officer stands at the head of the table, arms behind their back, legs waist-length apart in a militaristic fashion. EO states in a clinical nature the orders to their crew - Team 1 are to investigate the extent of the damage to the primary Atmosphere Processor adjacent to Hadley's Hope colony, and to ascertain the status of the two secondary Atmosphere Processors. Team 2 are to prepare to enter the target...

And invictus is a great name for a spaceship.
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

MemberTrilobiteMay-15-2012 4:08 AMThe whole story is from the companies point of view, fleshing out their interest in the Alien/Xenomorph and the lengths they have and will go to, to acquire their much coveted prize.
The story, as previously mentioned, has two elements - flashbacks and the main story...
FLASHBACKS
1. How W-Y knew to send the Nostromo to LV-426, and why the Nostromo was chosen.
2. How and why Ash replaced the Nostromos Science Officer at the Thedus Mining Colony.
3. Confirmation of the creature they sought being on LV-426 (ties into another screenplay I'm working on).
4. Why the Colony was set up on LV-426.
5. The infestation of Hadleys Hope.
6. Special Order 937 attempt 2 (links Aliens to Alien 3)
7. The confirmation that Ripley was in fact host to a Queen.
8. Ripleys blood samples and inmate Morse's fate.
MAIN STORY
1. The Derelict, its Pilot and Cargo gone.
2. A psychic (of sorts) link between one of the crew and the Derelict.
3. The contents of the Derelict's fin arm.
4. The Space-Jockey born Alien/Xenomorph.
5. The truth behind the events regarding the Derelict on LV-426.
6. The location of Alien/Xenomorph hive worlds.
7. The revelation of the Invictus' captains identity.
