MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 3:34 PMGuys watch the scene again and not just the stills the first pic is Milburn he HAS GLASSES that can be seen when the plexiglass melts to his face. There's isn't another crewmen with glasses is there?
1st picture = Milburn
2nd picture = Fifield( we see him later most of his helmet gone with burned skin)
The skin on fifield also seems to have been already burned before he's set on fire there's scene where he's attacking and burned but not yet lit up could be cgi though.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 3:38 PMI thought very early on that they determine that there is oxygen in the ampule room and they remove their masks...these scenes would either need to take place prior to this discovery or are in another part of the ship without oxygen..thoughts?
man, I think having something attacking you inside your helmet must be about the most helpless feeling...all of these guys clutching at their faces/heads and not being able to do any self preservation b/c of the suit/masks...reminds me of drowning somehow...the scene with the snake thing entering Miluburn's mouth is extremely disturbing....man...

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 3:41 PMGod... if that's really the case then Milburn's got about as much luck as Wil E. Coyote... except without the ability to be okay 5 seconds later!

MemberDeaconMay-15-2012 4:05 PMFacemelt is Fifeild IMO.... just checked a few trailers...
We see some guy with the mask starting to melt..... this person lacks the Gold like Cap that they wear under the helmets that has their names on.
So i assume this face.mask melting gets more intence and leads to the black face melting scene....

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 4:14 PMOk this is the way I see it. Look at the pic of the helmet where the hammerpede comes out of his mouth. You will notice that the glass on the helmet is not melted at all. It seems to be a round puncture in the lens in front of his face with jagged edges. It is not melted at all like in the other picture. In the other picture the whole front half of the glass of the helmet collapses and sinks into the crewmans face enveloping it. That doesn't happen with the hammerpede where it is shooting out of the mouth. It is noticeable in the gif. Again, the front half of the lens has a clear oval broken section knocked out of it, not melted. Kind of like he fell and crashed into the top of a urn causing the broken lens.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 4:09 PMCan we call the snakey thing that gets Milburn, "Sir Wrigley", after "Sir Wrigley(Ridley) Scott"? just a thought :)

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 4:31 PMThis melting-face scene makes me feel uneasy, and It's just a glimpse of what to come...

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 4:34 PM@Shillam...I disagree man the "Hammerpede" is coming out of the crewmans mouth and the hole in the helmet is huge and looks melted then broken once weakened. It's the camera angle that I think is confussing you because it's upside down and to the side if he were right side up and standing the hole would be in the exact same location as where milburns plexiglass helmet is melting.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 4:49 PMIf I could... and were in no danger of dying, I would like to give Milburn a hug... poor guy's getting the TOTAL 'shaft' if you know what I mean *sadface*

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 5:08 PMOkay, I think Mr. Facemelt is going to be this movie's asshole, so I think we'll all be satisfied when he gets his face melting comeuppance.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 5:33 PMOne other thing. In the audio we could hear the guy screaming 'its in my throat' clearly. How can he say that when it's actually in his throat obstructing speech?

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 8:07 PMMy pennysworth,..
In the holographic picture of the temple being relayed back to the Prometheus with Janik/Vickers, the hologram shows location of the crew members by yellow diamonds and a letter,. we see F and M located in a different room to David, Shaw etc,.
The first image in the trailers of the acid burn,. My first thought was the guy to the left was smiling sinisterly,. then the audio that was released; added to the new trailers showing the attack on Milburn and Fifield's "i'm not touching that" makes me think that Fifield does come and try to remove the creature from his arm,. and in doing so injures it which results in an acid blood spray onto his helmet,. this would explain the proximity of the two helmets,. also could explain some of the crazy noises heard in the audio,.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 11:35 PMI was thinking worse than the helmet melting, I was thinking of his suit DEPRESSURIZING with him in it. Now that would be a freaking horrible way to go out....

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 11:54 PMTheEgg....You ever see that Mythbusters episode where they proved what happens to a human body in a depressurized diving suit?....frakking horrible stuff....Check it out

MemberOvomorphMay-16-2012 9:24 AM@craig That's exactly how I imagined it to be, and still just as scary. But now as I look at the scene, the helmet isnt imploding, it's melting, as you can see how gelatinous it is. So I guess suit pressure theory isnt right.

Nice vid. (: Good to know it wasn't an actual human in the suit; I was a little leery at first, though having a human in it would've provided the most hard-copy visual example.....but, forget I said that.
Imagine if Fifield's helmet was melting while he was out in space. Personally I can't imagine a lot of things more terrifying than cracking your helmet in space and then your face gets sucked through it.....though I hear that what actually happens is your whole head freezes, but still it's a frightening way to go. Then again that's just me; I have that odd fear about outer space. If I'm still alive when outer space travel becomes a reality, I may just wuss out and stay here on Earth, not having to worry about getting sucked out into space due to some technical error on the colony's part or whatever similar.

SOCOM is a videogame series by Sony, usually where you play as a US Navy SEAL team and engage in counter-terror missions.....but multiplayer is where it's at for the series. It's a good series, and SOCOM 4's cool, especially since you can play as a chick. But for now, my love for contemporary military shooters is with Battlefield 3. (:
