First review (it's pretty much spoiler free, so don't worry) from a magazine in Slovenia who have apparently seen the first preview showings of the film.
Not sure what he means by "cheap tricks" or inconsistencies, but I guess we'll find out eventually.

Haha I was just going to post this :p
Reading this got me a little worried...
I mean I am sure this movie will be great and that I will love it but it says we don't get any answers...
Does that mean they will just find the temple and won't know anything about it the whole movie? And that would mean that there is no explanation giving about the urns and what they contain. I kinda find this hard to believe...

OutlanderMay 16, 2012
Sounds like it could potientially be "Lost" in Space (pardon the pun) which would really, REALLY piss me off.

SyphonoxMay 16, 2012
Hmmm...I'm actually kind of relieved it wasn't a glowing review. I'm anticipating this movie so much, I don't need to put any more pressure on it. Plus, he's Slovenian...so I'll take my chances.

I'm going to take that review with a grain of salt...

Even if they did get the details right...what's with that objection to a Monster that develops in less than half an hour? They did see 'Alien'.....right? They do know that the xeno develops from roughly the size of a weazel to something larger most human males in about the same amount of time, maybe a bit longer?
.May 16, 2012
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HA, these people need a good spanking. Let's introduce them to a room full of Cobraliens... nice.

John D.May 16, 2012
What details did he get incorrect?
I've read movie reviews from big names (Ebert, Siegel, Stewart Kline, etc.) over the years where you could almost swear they saw a different film than then one I did, just from how they managed to mangle the plot when talking about the movie.
EDIT: Ok I read it again and the only glaring thing I read was that he said it's "forty years" before Alien rather than "thirty years." That doesn't suprise me. See what I wrote above about movie reviewers.
RawrMay 16, 2012
Well he goes on about them changing in 30 mins, but that's fairly normal based on the other movies right, don't see a problem with that.
I wouldn't take random magazine review seriously tbh it's one person opinion and who knows how much of a fan they are in the whole alien universe.

aka NateMay 16, 2012
Some wrong details:
-40 years before 'Alien'
-take's place "on moon of LV226"
... Off the top of my head

shardyMay 16, 2012
i think this particular reviewer is stuck on seeing "Marines in Space"
again, when they should have gone into the film without that baggage
i don't trust reviews of films i want to see,
whether they are positive or negative. look at the reviews ALIEN
got when it was released way back in 1979, the reviews were more
negative than positive. same goes for Blade Runner
why would you let someone else tell you how something tastes
or sounds, you need to see / taste it for yourself, that also applies
to cinema
just sayin'...

lol @ FW, nice!

I second what shardy said.
Have you heard of phoenix asteroids?
They glow in every color of the rainbow...they travel endlessly through space...

Forever WarMay 16, 2012
Let's wait and see what they say in Transylvainia....they just gotta call it right somewhere, anywhere....

orangecatMay 16, 2012
How come they'd show it to a Slovenian monthly magazine prior to any national/international websites and before the premiere? Seems like a joke from the Joker (sorry that was bad)... Don't reviews usually have a dated embargo on them anyway? (ie the studio can sue the publisher if it's published before they want details leaked)
Seems really vague and an incredibly unlikely source to me - and my ass is OFFICIALly orange!

ChrisMay 16, 2012
I'd like to see a review pop up online from someone who is actually a FAN and speaks like a fan would - stressing major points of interest. All these "official" reviews seem the same to me - bland and as if the reviewer didn't understand the film at all. I mean, when you're a reputable source, you want to get your facts straight and right of the bat, these reviews are sadly lacking in accuracy.
I understand ComicBookMovie is a fairly well known, reputable site, but this review is not I'm afraid.

Xenomorph 54May 16, 2012
The only reviews I will be really interested in read will be reviews of other fans, like members of this forum.

You're right, this bozo confused 223 and 226. How could anyone in their right mind make such a mistake? How?
That screams 'fake review' to me for sure.
/sarcasm off :)
SkyMay 16, 2012
It is an attempt to bring search engine traffic to their site. That way they raise their ads CPM rates and cash in on such type of traffic.
Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.

aka NateMay 16, 2012
And comicbookmovie.com far from reputable.... Only volunteers submit information.... It's written in their disclaimer at the bottom of that same "article" .... They lost a lot of bull shit about The Dark Knight Rises also.... Not concerned with this "review"

John D.May 16, 2012
So if someone else posts another review there and it's a glowing review, should we ignore that one too? Not sure I understand the rationale here.

orangecatMay 16, 2012
Given they don't have any images that are new or information that is new I think we can assume it's fake. The press info available for this film must be vast, no?

SpartacusMay 16, 2012
pathetic and complete BS if you ask me !!! The film can not preview in Slovenia anyways until the 25th I believe!

John D.May 16, 2012
It does seem damned odd that they'd have a preview for the press more than a week out, doesn't it?
Usually the press are invited to a showing about a week or so before the opening.

draekusMay 16, 2012
Press can often see a movie weeks before its released. They're just instructed to not post full reviews until a certain date (usually within a week of the movie's release).
If its real, and it definitely can be real, then we just have to read in between the lines. The minor discrepancies (40 years instead of 30 and incorrectly numbering the planet) could just be honest mistakes. It doesn't mean they haven't seen it. The important thing is they say the movie has depth and asks important questions. That's great! That seems to be what Ridley wanted to do.
I wouldn't worry about the "monster developing in 30 minutes" critique. We all know that's normal in an Alien movie. Hell if this same person would have reviewed Alien he probably would have said the same thing. The only thing to possibly worry about is the "inconsistencies". I like to know what those are, but I'm not worried one bit.

Forever WarMay 16, 2012
Nobody has seen this yet...you can beat it to death, but in the end there is no need to preview this film....this is not a mere opening, this is an event...those are two distinct and discernable wholly separate packages.
Let me put it another way...does anyone see Fox themselves touting advance previews for this film?
By the way.....John D, nice effort, I know you're into the spirit of sharing, I along with many do appreciate that.

NCC 1701May 16, 2012
i wonder if he got free food also ,,,and missed 1/2 of the movie filling his face

John D.May 16, 2012
If the film is as good as everyone wants it to be, and Fox has enough confidence in the product to show it off to the press at least a week prior, then you can be sure they are going to have advance previews. Word of mouth is the best advertising!
A barrage of glowing advance reviews (think what happened with "The Avengers") will be quite handy in getting the non-Alien-fan moviegoing public to come out to this science-fiction horror film in a summer that's otherwise dominated by heroes in brightly colored spandex.
