I thought the enigma was concerning his name David after the King David in the bible...and that whole, "A King will have his reign....." line.

A king has his reign and then a carpenter's son comes along quite a bit later and claims the birthright. I missed that in the trailer. ;•)

Oh; I thought it had to do with how David was named after a giant-killer, who went on to become the king (3rd?) of the United Monarchy. But this "Davieight" sounds pretty clever. Like, what, deviating from what human evolution is supposed to go through, or deviating from his original mission plan (or programming, if that sounds right)? War, poverty, and all that terrible stuff makes David cry? Do keep in mind, guys, that it was a commercial, and commercials are usually scripted. David probably got paid to shed tears; sick as it sounds, it's not an impossible thing to do. And he "understands human emotions" even though he cannot feel them.....or was it the other way around? Either way, this thread now makes me think that David 8 advertisement definitely speaks of some innuendo, a prelude of things to come. I've been having a raging argument here at home over just how heavy it might get, yes...when Ridley and Lindeloaf toss around terms like mythological and in fact reference Greek myth...I pay a little attention to the more profound elements out there.

I think they called him David as a reference to David Bowie in The Man Who Fell To Earth, but that's just me! ;-)

David spelled backward is: Divad which is a typo for divas which is the plural of diva OMG! He's the reincarnation of Whitney and Donna and Marlena (and Michael) all rolled into one cantankerous, somewhat dramatic, yet faAAaabulous robot! Sorry, I was just watching [i]Ancient Aliens[/i] on Netflix. Sometimes that encourages me to get a bit carried away. ;•)
