Since coming onto this forum and seeing the promo clips and viral clips etc. listening to interviews and such i'm increasingly of the opinion that the two SJ ships are different. The ship on LV426 comes from a much earlier time and the xenomorph cargo is an accident from a containment spill of goo that transformed another alien lifeform outside of sj race. inturn spawning from a infected sj the xeno's. the sj's use to goo to assimilate other species to their own. but the accident creating xeno's made a creature that can augment features from other creatures eg dog alien (though its not canon "predator alien". get the idea.) a sj rescue team goes to lv426. they are too late.they set up the warning beacon. like the nostromo crew take the xenomorph back home by accident. wipes most of the sj race out before they contain the xenos. then go into hibernation till the prometheus expedition turnsup. That goo is the real star here. and david states the obvious in full view. And well the SJ making way for earth is probable the only way they can keep their race from dying out. what do you rekon guys? or is it we are so hyped about this movie that we are generating too much imagination.......cant sleep

There is no such thing as too much imagination - in fact, the idea a movie could make all of us come up with our own chain of events is amazing. I actually dig on a lot the idea that the ship for LV426 is a fossil, giving way to closing one timeline, and opening another. It was something that I had seen mentioned with the "Cloverfield" flick (yeah - not even in the same realm, but a good solid popcorn movie for shits and giggles) - that a sequel would come from different perspectives. This does the same - yours is pretty solid. Good, solid Science Fiction makes ya dig around the skullcap. I can't sleep either - but now I can seeing there's more than me out here running this through the melon. Have a good night.

Does anyone else think Prometheus could be the movie type version of Lost?? In terms of raising questions about life, purpose of creation etc??

Since Lost didn't answer any questions or have a decent ending, I hope not.

+1 about Lost. No real point to the entire series once you reach the last couple of seasons. Good example of why not to try to explain everything while really explaining nothing. Its been discussed, an mostly agreed that's it's not the same ship or planet but we won't know until P-Day. We won't know for sure about anything until P-Day. My opinion is the tech and races are way way older than human but more advanced. There is no reason to over think the fossils vs suit vs exact age of the original space jockey vs. the beginning of humanity. I doubt that all we be completely explained - I actually hope it is not.

A little dash of ''Lost'' i.e a good yarn not really explaining anything but focusing on how the characters deal with their lot can't be a bad thing. Seeing the original SJ as a young kid set my imagination on fire but the rest of the original Alien movie dealt with survival against a monster. NOTHING was explained and thank the Engineers it wasn't.

Yeah there are two SJ ships......well, two types of ships at least. One is a big-ass saucer-shaped ship over a waterfall, and the other's that crescent-shaped ship we all recognized (evidently called "Juggernaut").

I kind of agree with the scenerio that the Xeno has been on LV426 on that ship for a long long time, and at a period of time related to the events that caused the Engineers to be killed nearly all off on LV 223. Will we find out that in this movie? Would the Engineers deaths etc be linked to something else.... Or would we get no reasons to either..... I had heard most things will have no answers what so ever, but thats Lindelof for you :( Oh by no answers i am not talking about Derelict in Alien i am on about events in this movie...... Aparently we was left with these from Alien regarding that movie.... Who was the Jockey, Why did he land on LV 426, How did the Eggs get on board and why, where did the Xeno come from... Well there are scenes in this movie that will leave the same kinds of explantaions untold.... so expect many Smoke Monsters lol....
