And y'know what? I have heard Sweet F#@k All about the Spider-Man movie that's supposed to be out in, what, July? all this year. Not a peep. And frankly, could care less about it, especially since they decided that Peter Parker was a skateboarding punk that manages to pick up the hot blonde. What a heap of crap -_-
Looks like garbage. TDKR is the only other movie that looks even vaguely interesting this year.

Lost ended very, very, very disappointingly. I hope Lindelof has grown up a bit since then.

I'm still suing the makers of The Neverending Story for false advertising :-P

I did. Wasn't as good as the original, I thought. Mental anguish to add to my case! :-P

Lindeloff does concern me....I erad an interview with him where he pretty much admitted to making"errors" with other writings - Guess this could be his gigantic kop out end to Lost? Did love the Star Trek re-boot though!

yeah there has been quite a people having reservations about lindelofs input on this forum. i only thought about the lost comparison when reading through and seeing these concerns. with so many reboots in tv and movies going on there are so few new ideas and stories coming out. i thought please god dont rehash, and made the post to see whether any one was thinking of things in these terms. the star trek reboot was ok. but apparently he is bringing khan into the 2nd movie. which just seems lazy. so it will be interesting to see how much influence he has on the prometheus story. cant wait for the film anyway. i rarely get disappointed with sci fi films anyway. even the bad ones can be entertaining. i'm just a die hard.

Some of us loved the ending to Lost. I loved the star trek reboot too, besides that i don't think i've seen anything else where Lindelof has had a huge say in it.
But he didn't go banging on RS door demanding the gig or rewriting Spaihts script. They came to him. I can imagine Spaihts film would have been exciting, but of no interest to most people, it probably wouldn't have captured peoples imaginations, and i doubt there'd be presents for fanboys. Decent presents that is.
By decent i don't mean sad money shots of chestbursters. I mean mystery, and talking points. Because I'd bet there'll be plenty unresolved, nuanced, hinted at, and this board will be as lively after the film as it has been before it. And that i'll put down to Lindelof, that is what he's good at. Letting the fans fill in the blanks, and argue the toss over whose blanks make the most sense.
Most of the fans alternate endings ive read were hopeless. it was like some 5year old trying to write a star trek script, and would have cheapened the whole show. But, thats what you get when you have TV execs knowing that they have a hit on their hand, fuck the quality of the show, they just want it to run and run. Writers can't properly plot something when they don't kow when Acts 2&3 to start. Should have been a three season show from the start, but then that would fuck up syndication rights and all that crap, which is what lays behind most American TV (except HBO and showtime).
i do understand fans criticism of Lost, i just think it's misplaced anger. It should have been directed at the execs when Lindelof was trying his hardest to quit the show around season2.

I doubt very much you're saying you would have preferred him not to suggest he's perfect. seems like a very self-deprecating guy when i see him interviewed, very quick to spread any praise heaped on him towards others, and bigs up Spaihts in every interview too. More people will have heard of Spaihts from Lindelof bigging him up than from any other source.

If the trailers and featurettes portray the level of balance in story and entertainment (to me it makes The Dark Knight Rises seem a bit of a dull affair in comparison) then I think Lindelof did a good job, right? I mean look at the subject matter it's hugely provocative and is a massive philsophical topic while at the same time we get to see alien creatures, people running and screaming and epic fx shots of ships blowing up.
the comingMay 27, 2012
@cypher..yeah weird..not a peep about spiderman...you cant reboot something that was out 5 years ago lol...and that green lizard looks fckin terrible, such a lame villain
i think that main actor tho, he is better than that toby mcguire fruit...

Lindelof boned us with Lost, but I recognize that he was working in the confines of television and I'll give him a shot only because i am sure that Ridley had him on a leash...ultimately, Ridley is 100% responsible for this film.
