A lot of the folks that worked on Space 1999, went on to work on Alien in 1977-78.

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 1:49 AMI thoroughly loved this episode as a child in 1975-76. In South Africa we watched this series dubbed into the country's ruling party's language, and even then it was effective enough for me to relive the entire episode in my dreams that night.
Therefore, it is logical that the same thing happened after I experienced ALIEN for the first time.

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 2:00 AMthe first season of space 1999 where the dragons domain episode is a part. is excellent. it has this serious dark tone, say a sense of unease in every episode which made it compelling viewing. dont worry about the 2nd season. fred friedburger fracked it and mad it a startrek parody. if you have never seen it.....your missing out.

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 2:20 AMWell people are not so different throughout this planet..
I am so happy to see other fans sharing same experiences...
crossed my mind but never thought to post it...
Incredible episode space 1999...I still remember the Italian composer Albioni string symphony music, used in that episode.I still love this music.
I related so much more with space 1999 than with Star Treck...
It would really deserve to be a film too...Space 2099 maybe?And now much more closer to reality of a true moonbase on our satelite....

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 2:24 AMI remember being only 7 years old while watching that. I was scared like hell. Lol seeing it back again. I loved space 1999. It was so scary and incredible, but hasn't aged well.

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 4:30 AMActually, I suddenly get the feeling that a lot of influence from this episode is put in Prometheus...after rewatching the Dragon's Domain episode.
@markos_prometheus: There are rumors of a reboot of the series called Space 2099, a bit Battlestar Galactica reboot.
I loved the old series.

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 6:18 AMWatched that episode as a child, about 7 at the time. Couldn't sleep for days, was convinced that nasty bugger was in my wardrobe...waiting.

@Skybird,
Yeah, it was the same for me as well. I must have been around 7 or 8 years old at the time, and this creature scared the heck out of me!

MemberOvomorphMay-25-2012 10:15 AMAnd for those who watched the episode, the creature wasn't even alive!!!! Scanners couldn't read it. Of course, scanners weren't that good in 1999 lol
