why?

I know it's off topic (sort of) but I think it's quite interesting on forums like this what people assume/don't assume about other users... I was kinda surprised to see other posters mention they were gay and were as annoyed by some of the language used as I was... I had assumed that everyone would be straight... Anyway I can see that nobody means harm here so it's all good!
