Before anybody else decides to post their own review/thoughts on Prometheus, ple

All - and I mean ALL - reviews so far, whether good or bad, have spent the whole time comparing it to Alien in every possible way, and that's just not fair.

I agree! The part I don't get is the fact that those same people are complaining that nothing is explained in Prometheus....when nothing in Alien was explained and that was the best part!

Hey ADH, isn't it crazy that there is a gaping majority of positive reviews (about 85% to 90%) out there, yet, all most if us here can fixate on is the 3 to 4 bad reviews from critics and the handful from fans who weren't going to be happy anyway?

Well, I always find it best to have other people make up my mind about whether or not I like a movie then post on boards how RS was hit in the head by DL (because you know, he rewrote the story without RS's knowledge) and then spout how horrible the movie is...without even seeing it yet.

I'm not talking about whether the reviews were good or bad, I'm talking about comparing the movie in it's entirety to Alien. But I agree, a lot of supposed "fans" made up their minds and knew they weren't going to like it before anyone had seen it. No real "fan" of something dismisses something that is obviously going to play such a big part in the franchise's future.

It seems some people on this board are getting butthurt because the movie wasn't what they expected.
Then again, Fox kinda tip-toed around calling this movie an "Alien" movie didn't they? They certainly dropped hints that it was an Alien movie while at the same time, being extra careful to call it one.
I've been reading some of the reactions and all of them are--quite frankly--hilarious.

It was marketed as an Alien movie, right down to the way the lettering appeared in the very first trailer. Which showed a very similar looking ship that we had seen before crashing.
My question is, how the hell do 2 of the same sort of ship manage to have similar crash-landing experiences in the exact same star system but on different planets that are apparently not that far away from each other? Years apart? And how is it the Nostromo didn't get re-routed to the planet where the Company knew there was definitely specimens of alien life? Are the Engineers just really bad at their flying skills?
Why was it marketed as an Alien film if it hasn't answered some of the oldest questions we fans have? I know Ridley and his douche Lindelof said it wasn't a direct prequel, but they KNEW fans wanted to see how that original ship got there with it's egg cargo. He has said in interviews that e knows fans "want to see where the Alien originally came from, in a very visceral way."
So as far as I can tell, this was all about money and giving fans a big middle finger from Ridley while Lindelof moons us and sharts his usual drivel from Lost with no solid answers at all.....................
They don't give a fuck about us, the fans that helped get them to where they are. They give a fuck about the dollars they make from it, and that seems to be about all there is to it.
Fuck Ridley and Lindelof. I used to be a fan of the old man, now he can go suck it and die for all I care. Blade Runner 2 will probably be as shit if he lives long enough to do it, and I bet he gets his new brainless butt buddy to shart the script into the toilet after a hard night on the piss and curry. Because that's what sounds like happened here.

"Is it dead this time?" "I dunno, poke it with this stick and see."

Guys you obviously havent seen the movie yet. i wrote about it on this website when i got home last night. i was dissapointed with it. i didnt and didnt want to compare it to Alien...its just not very good. the unanswered questions referred to on this page are not questions in the overall we're looking for answers to the god like creation plot of the film but rather on quite a few occasions we start off on a story line (i wont use all examples as not to spoil but there are two things i will say) **spoilers ahead** we dont find anything out about anything...we dont know why or what the space jockeys are running from and what murdered them....yet a sizeable part of the film is given to this and builds up to nothing. its like the pages of the script got stuck together and they just go on like nothing happened onto the next build up or distraction....secondly these omnipitent Engineers with all their genius and endless creativity are just reduced to angry thugs like some drunken WWE wrestler....hardly impressive despite the power they have at their disposal....theres some really good things in the movie ... but it was ultimately dissapointing....not scary at all...all the tension is in the first hour-ish....theres just to many holes and you feel a little cheated as it just turns into a regular monster movie....no reasons as to why their there or why the want to kill us....just bad story telling with random infected humans turning up sporadically when its time to off the cast as theres too many of them. despite this theres so wonderfull imagry...and lastly...if you read them you'll find that roughly 80% of people have had negative things to say about the film...its not just 3-4 bad reviews....have a read.
