Anyone else who feels tricked? (spoiler-free)

You said earlier that this film isn't what it should have been. What should it have been iyo?

Even with his flaws i think we NEED prometheus movies in the future ... what you want ?? Transformers ?? Avengers ?? Battleship ?? ...i hope it start a new franchise of great Sci-fi movies , Some quotes of Ridley were a bit exhagerated but ..at the end ...very good movie .

I guess we had to believe it's not an alien prequel, it's something different in the same universe. Grander. Me too, being on this website, i started to believe it would be just that. Now i must say i'm happy it is not, and i enjoyed the movie very much.

Sorry, but i haven't seen those movies yet, because i couldn't care any less. This was the movie I' have been looking forward a very long time, and it failed to deliver...big time. Thank God... or the SJ, we still have alien(s), 2001, the original The day the earth stood still 'klaatu no barakda' or something, terminator 1 and 2, original predator, akira, etc. but prometheus doen't belong in this list in my opinion...

@ shinobix9x I'm glad you enjoyed prometheus, but to me it was a total waste of money (about 96 euros in total, if you count in the crisps and coca cola) and I kinda want it back now... It shouldn't even exist in the same universe, prometheus just borrowed stuff from alien so it could sell better, and now they're calling it a stand-alone story with an SJ that has no character development whatsoever. Lame...

^ What on Earth do any of those movies have in common? Day the Earth Stood Still? Terminator 2? They both have robots? I sort of thought that, maybe with Ridley coming back (which I was always pretty upset about because it broke the 26 year long tradition, but that's neither here nor there) would mean those people who absolutely HATE alien movies, you know, the "fans," would finally just shut up and go away. If you've ever been to avpg you'll know what I mean. They are honestly the worst fanbase I've ever seen. And my dad likes Star Wars, so I'm not hot dogging you here, it's BAD. I'm just trying to dork out about monsters and these guys are like "I DON'T LIKE ANY MOVIES!" And yet, here on this site which is full of otherwise nice, helpful, and imaginative people who seem to be genuinely enthused about this movie, regardless of why, are starting to make all these threads about how even their beloved Ridley isn't enough anymore. Well, I think I finally understand. There's no possible way to please you, no matter what kind of movie anyone makes anymore, you just hate everything. I don't want to say that coming off like a jerk or something, you can like or dislike whatever you want and it's clearly none of my business, and more power to you to be vocal about your disappointment. For sure. But understand that, for people like me who are motivated to actively go online and seek out places to talk about what is, and deny it up and down if you like but that doesn't change the facts, a commercially successful series of very un-challenging mainstream monster movies with horror themes, the Debbie Downer thing is really annoying. Again, I don't want to criticize your personal opinion, that's not my business. But if you really feel this way, why are you even here? *gets off soapbox* That's all I wanted to say. Continue your gripe fest if you must.

(the crash, the warning..) either it is or it isn't. The film was average. I do feel tricked, but to be fair, its not worse than other films, and yes it was nice to see a different tangent through alien, it wasn't as bad as the Newborn in Alien-Resurection (but edging dangerously close in some respects..). Its just that could have been done without the lost-style random plot mystery madness. I will probably watch it again (maybe even twice); and I would watch a sequel.

The thing those movies have in common is that they're great sci-fi movies, and you do sound like a jerk: 'you hate everything, not a single movie works for you...' Sorry, I can't help it this movie isn't what it should have been. And to all the people who have spent MONTHS of their lives on this site i only say this: Great job all, speculating has never been more fun!! Some people on this site have more imagination than RS and DL put together. No doubt...

I do feel tricked. And what is this lie about it is not an Alien movie. Of course it is as it uses elements from Alien, such as the SJs (wasted), the derelict spaceships, the wayland company and a proto alien. If you want to do a stand-alone movie, then use those elements and don't waste everything to make easy money. But apparently Scotty is not creative enough.

It's an Alien movie in the sense that Fox could exploit the Alien brand to jump-start their new franchise. "Just tell 'em it's an Alien movie and hint and be coy that it has nothing to do with Alien. People will go see the movie because they loved Alien and then screw them..."

@RipleyMcPreviouscharacter...Yes, there are sooooo many online fans who are just impossible to please. They bitch about how there's nothing new and original then bash a film that tries something different then they go in droves to see shitty remakes and bitch about them as well. It's constant and never ending...and very annoying. This whole damn franchise is a PERFECT example. Fans bitch about AvP and AvPR for specific reasons then turn around and bash Prometheus for doing the exact opposite.

To please all the fanboys: yes, indeed, I am impossible to please and there's no way this movie could have been better. The characters, the SJ, the monsters, they all looked gorgeous and had their own role in the movie. Plot devices are superb! character development is out of this world. If you loved the alien films, you can't miss out on this!!! Euhm... There are SJ's in it and euhm... we don't really know much about them, except that they're a-holes who go sit in their penis-like canon with a smirk like 'haha, it's time to destroy earth' and EUHM.. sh*t, but without a doubt, but clearly this is the movie all of us fans have been waiting for... Can somebody please chop off my fingers, I don't feel so good.

I never said the film was great or superb or anything of that nature. And all my coments were not about or directed at you. But for god's sake man they said a million times it wasn't an Alien prequel. In every interview I watched or read that was said by cast and crew both. If you feel cheated it's your own fault.

I also heard it wasn't a prequel, and they're right, this has nothing to do with alien and it never should have. period.

deckard im an alien fan who by choice deliberatly never watched or read any interviews only the trailer and movie as not to ruin it for my self seeing just the trailer my mind automatically linked prometheus to alien as im sure yours would have this is not the movie depicted in that trailer just an average scifi movie deliberatley trading on pre conceived ideas the audience have based on the excisting fanbase of a totally diferrent film prometheus could have been done just as well without the links to alien but would you still be talking about it in the same vein i think not
