How exactly does it tie in with Alien?? Yes a creature burst from the Engineer, but on THAT ship in Alien, the "being" was sat in the chair piloting the ship it would seem, with a burst suit. Thoughts??

I totally agree with you @sandman. There are people that cannot separate Promethues from Alien. Mr. Scott repeatedly stated that the movie was not a prequal. Interview after interview he said the same thing. But people still want to see the movie tie into Alien somehow. Grow up folks, your adults. Use your imagination. The Xenos are boring. Why do I want to see a mindless creation running around killing people. When I can find out about the creators themselves. The first time I ever saw Alien, the image that has always stock in my head is of the space jockey. It's a strong imag because it is a humanoid figure like us. So that makes it more interesting. The moment I saw the figure sitting down I began think. Whe the hell is this guy, we're does he come from? Why is sitting there? Is he a god. That character has always been more interesting then the Xenos themselves.

Just a thought, is it feasible that since the engineers travel far and wide they wouldn't do all their work in one place. But the Alien infestation that (may or may not have) occurred on LV-426 could still be based on the same genetic manipulation experiments as that of the Engineers on LV-233? It would certainly go a long way to explaining the similarity between the Aliens but still have their very unique differences. then again there's still the possibility that the Alien we see burst from the Engineer is simply the result of mixing Alien - Engineer biology (much like the dog alien in Alien 3). A little question of my own tho if you don't. The eventual alien we see at the end of the film is actually a combination of so many mind boggling elements its actually quite a tangled origin to decifer. The Engineers introduce their DNA to our planet and so creature human life, human biology is then exposed to the black ooze that causes genetic changes to occur, those changes are then introduced via a form of rapid scale reproduction with another human creating a engineer-human-alien hybrid, the hybrid then goes on to impregnate and combine its own dna with a purestrain engineer. would the resulting offspring then be a Alien-Human-Engineer hybrid or is that me overthinking it too much?? lol

"In the nearby discussion (http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/6352) Nvidiatroll suggested that derelict on LV-426 is one of the ships that left LV-233 after things got hot. The pilot was infected at the time he left the planet and got chest busted while flying near LV-426 crashing his ship. Makes perfect sense to me." That works. Did they mention at all roughly how long the Engineer had been "sleeping" for? Maybe LV-426 was just another bioweapon research lab working with the same basic ideas/material that had a accident and went totally wrong. Maybe they were mutating a proto-xeno further and ended up with the monster we saw in alien, and all the eggs. Kinda like how humans keep working to make weapons more powerful, you have to figure this race would mutate and experiment on anything they created. Sometimes accident happen. Also, Ridley said the Derelict landed, not crashed. Maybe he landed, took a look, got facehugged, woke up turned on the warning and just waited to die. The rest didnt come looking for whatever was there because it was a warning upon entering the system. I think a lot of people have their panties in a bunch because they had it all wrapped up in bows, story wise, in their heads. And now all those ideas? Out the window along with all the extended universe garbage [there might be good in it but it is 95% crap] and all the avp stuff. They took a basic concept and made it far bigger and more interesting. At least in theory, I Still havent seen the movie. But again, I am not married to the xeno. It just doesn;t interest me near as much as the universe it lives in now. One creature in a universe that could be filled with millions of them.

I think the main thing that needs to be expanded upon from the film is the history and mythology of the engineers and their black goo. I, like many others would like it to tie in with Alien a little easier but at the moment, its between two stories. After reading the forums for a few hours, Ive eased my discomfort with all of the plot holes by deciding/speculating that, like someone posted somewhere(!), and sorry if Im regurgitating, the engineers are an a-sexual race that are concerned and obsessed with procreation. for all of their intellectual power, they are impotent in reproducing diverse offspring of their own, so they discover/develop an organism that can be diverse to the extreme. With a voracious sexual appetite, it utilises the dna of every and any life form it comes in contact with, displaying the characteristics of both a parasite and a sexually reproducing organism. so kind of in Thing territory. For me this ties in with the proto xeno and their murals of a vaguely familiar looking xeno body shape. Perhaps after testing the black goo's fruition in many species, they found it always resembled the vague shape of a xenomorph. And so they dedicated the murals to the image of their "children". And perhaps they created humans, in their own image, embodied with their dna, as walking, sacrificial wombs so that the offspring would always contain their dna. This ties in with the theme of creation and with Shaw's issues with sterility and subsequent impregnation. The big question is, if the engineers are immortal or live for aeons then, what is immortality?: to live forever (for Weyland/ humans) or to spread the seed(for the engineers), and could they or should they be mixed. Prometheus has opened up a real proverbial can of cobraliens on the chicken and egg front, but for me, for now at least I think the stages of the black goo represent both the chicken and the egg, as for the engineers, I would like to know where they came from or at least some history. I hope some of this is explored in the sequel and if so, even though initally annoyed, I can see myself loving this film. Haha, Im largely thinking out loud here but glad I got this out of my system! Anyway Im worn out from thinking about this, hope I didnt 'tangentialize' too much OP!

I agree with everything you said @shanebai. The engineers/space jockeys are much more interesting then the Xeinos. I want to know about there origin. And why they do what they do. There story is a universe unto itself.

@xenophobe Posted this Friday on one of the other feeds...let me know if I'm making any sense here? I think I may have an explanation as to the link to alien/the crash site on Lv-426! Here goes.... ...right severed head David tells shaw that the crashed ship they were originally exploring isn't the only alien ship on the planet...he never states there is only one more, so I believe there are a number of these ships, all with SJ crew laying in stasis. The 'alien' (which I have dubbed the 'Hollywood alien' dude to its smooth skin and fresh set of pearly whites) born from the SJ at the end of the film, goes on to grow into a queen, laying eggs which hatch some nice friendly face huggers! These face huggers impregnate a SJ on one of the other ships, awakening it from stasis...the SJ then, blissfully unaware of its new offspring growing within, plots a course to earth to complete its mission...ship flies off from Lv-233 chest heater makes an appearance, causing the ship to lose control/cash on Lv-426 leading us nicely into the distress call heard in the original alien.... Any contenders to this theory? Hope you all followed what I was trying to say at least. Here's to hoping some sort of franchise is upon us to restore our beloved Alien inverse

@Lv-233 yes, kind of makes sense. The only thing that bugs me is if your theory is true and the SJs have such an advanced technology and IF they really wanted to hammer everything they created on earth... how is it that they cannot just plot an auto crash course to earth notwithstanding the fact that they may be infected, as some of their pals already had? Still lots to explain = sequels of some sort. @Xenophobe agree with you, think that the final scene with the chest buster was a screw up after all the hassle RS went to make the SJ consistent with the original alien. It kind of links in a remote way. don't think that anyone, including RS can deny its obvious in-your-face link with the Alien universe

i just see it as the engineers made this bio weapon it broke out and the same thing could have happened in alien then the space jokey in the gun in alien could have had the same fate as the one in prometheus then they give birth to a queen alien because i beleive it was a queen cuz it had a big yellow ball in its belly and then that made all the eggs in the ship in alien and the same thing will prob happen on that planet in prometheus.

I think I just figured it out. What if, at the end, the new "queen" alien gets on board the new ship Noomi and David find. Then, the person piloting the ship is actually Noomi in the alien suit, but the people in the first Alien don't know that because they don't know how to open the suit. The queen alien gets Noomi all preggers with the Xenomorphs we know, then it bursts, killing Noomi (whilsts she's hiding out in the pilot's seat?), and then the ship reaches its destination, but crashes. This new destination is LV 426, ready and seeded with all the Facehugger eggs laid by the queen alien, gets explored by the people in the first film... Etc. etc. :) Just a few thoughs.

Ok, First off david steals one of the crucible from the chamber with the large sp head. On the wall is the plack with the clasic alien sculpted into the wall. Could this vision be due to the crucibles containing the dna for the alien. Thats why after the "star beast" face hugger we end up with the alien. Ala alien dna from ridley' comments. I though the film rocked.
