MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 4:35 PMWell I haven't seen Prometheus yet, but I keep reading reviews and spoilers alike! Maybe I am one of those who don't mind spoilers...
I plan to see it the upcoming week. I would like it to be some sort of a little life changing experience. But it appears that it is that for some and it is not for others...
Ok, you can't expect everything to come from a movie, however good that may be....You have to have a life for yourself too...
Strangely enough, I am not at all discouraged, as I believe that one should form his own opinion no matters what others say.
Not all people are the same, nor do they carry the same experiences, nor do they have the same view about aesthetics, nor are they in the same suitable moment in life that would allow them to enjoy such a movie, nor,nor nor....
To cut it short: I'm going like crazy...and I'm gonna enjoy it whether it's great or greatest!

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 11:26 PMFandango asked, "Which movie are you looking forward to most this summer?"
Here are the poll results so far:
The Avengers 34.58%
Prometheus 11.5%
The Dark Knight Rises 40.25%
The Bourne Legacy 7.85%
The Amazing Spider-Man 5.83%
My choice for something after Prometheus would be Total Recall and maybe even Looper, but they are not "summer movies."

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 4:41 PMNo, I don't think so.
When you finish rocking back and forth in the shower, there's a full bottle of prescription meds in the cabinet.
If you need help making any last arrangements, let me know.
P.S. - sorry if that's a little sensitive for anyone on this board. I admit, the joke is dark, but I couldn't resist with a title like "Is there life after having seen Prometheus".

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 4:43 PMJust don't expect it to be tied into Alien like a true prequel and don't have ridiculous expectations. If you can truly stick to that plan then my guess is you'll more than likely think it's good.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 4:43 PMWell, when I was a kid my auntie told me the story of Alien which she had seen at the movie theater, and I was fascinated by it. I hope Prometheus has a story that even if you heard about it, it will deeply thrill you.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 4:48 PMJust don't expect a masterpiece like Alien, Prometheus is not even close to a classic.

Well, here's to hope.
Cheers.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 5:04 PM@markos_prometheus: for me, this film above all others in the
past 20+ years, is one that i have a LOT of hope riding on on it
i don't expect for it to have the exact same impact that ALIEN did,
but i am hoping it will deliver on what i am hoping for, a solid story
brilliantly told / executed. an impressive impact in a different way
i have been out of work since Dec 2011,
and this film has been heavy on my mind since i do not have the
distraction of a weekly work schedule to not let me focus so much
of my cinematic hope on
right now, i am trying to really appreciate this point and time.
when i have not seen the film, and my hope and expectations
have not been dashed
if what i am hoping for in PROMETHEUS is not met,
then the decompression following my initial viewing of this film
will be a tough one
if this film meets or (hopefully) far surpasses my hopes,
then it will also be a bit of a tough decompression. but a great one
in any case, something to look forward to...!

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 5:28 PMfor me its an evolution of the species movie mainly concerning humans but of course it also explains how and why Alien evolved ,so really it is a prequel but its also a lot more than that.People are moaning that theres no eggs or Xenos thats because they havent evolved yet and the film clearly centres on mans desire to find out where we came from it doesnt dispute Darwins theory because the humanoid in the opening scenes exposed his DNA into the oceans then evolution takes over.
I can see this being a trilogy of films maybe culminating in the evolution of the Alien that weve all come to love, but i can see the plot focusing on Shaw and Dave wanting to know why the Engineers our creators want to destroy us.Maybe the reason is because man is too destructive and now with the technology to travel vast distances in space they are seen as a threat.
Anyway I think its a good movie and it has the chance to rescue the Alien franchise after the Alien 3 ,Alien Resurrection andAVP debacles ,that is assuming that Scott wants to do that ,but I think he has a duty to carry this on to the end.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 5:30 PMJust expect a few hours of entertainment, nothing else. If it turns out to be everything you wanted, you'll be very pleased. If it's not, you'll still have been entertained.
I haven't seen it yet but that's my attitude.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 5:52 PMOK......until youve seen it....shut up lol
No i dont mean to sound rude.....but up until today i was saying....oh no what if Ridley sells us out and stuff. That was before i saw the movie.
Now ive seen it.......you have NOTHING to worry about my friends.
TRUST ME.
Ridley is a genius.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 6:01 PMIt was a great movie and Scott-film, loved it, but if you are going overhyped, I can guarantee you'll be disappointed: why? Expectations. This already happened with Star Wars (and then Lucas destroyed it some more).
BTW, not even Alien is as perfect as Alien... fond memories tend to distort judgement.

Yep, life will go on.
