MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 6:21 PMThis is directed at people who've seen Prometheus both in 2D and 3D and can compare and recommend.
I don't usually care much about 3D. I saw MIB3 last night in 3D (only because that was the time that synced up best with my schedule). I'm pretty sure that I would have liked it just as much or better in 2D. The thing I typically don't like about 3D is that things that would normally be in focus in 2D are intentionally manipulated in an unnatural fashion to make the 3D seem more important and "dramatic" somehow. For example, there are shots in which you can't see all of the types of aliens in the HQ (white room) clearly because their focus had to be "sacrificed" to create the 3D. I like to be able to choose where my eye falls. I don't like for it to be constantly *forced* to one region of the screen.
If you've seen both 2D and 3D, is the 3D worth it? Is there something compelling about the way it's done that means that the first time I see the film, I should see it in 3D vs. 2D?
I will not see it until a week from today in the US, Please don't tell me anything that's a spoiler.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 6:23 PMSee it in 3D FIRST.......its mind blowing. The depth is incredible and crystal clear.
The rest lays with the abilities of your projectionist lol

Have you seen it in 2D as well? Does it LOSE anything in 2D? Or is the 3D version just *artistically* superior?

AdminEngineerJun-01-2012 6:31 PMHaha, John. 4D would be epic.
But definitely see it in 3D. I had my doubts how well it would turn out for the darker scenes of the film, but I was very impressed. The clarity is the best I've seen in all other 3D films I've seen at the cinema to date. The crisp images are flawless and won't give you a headache at all.
See it the way Ridley Scott intended it - in glorious 3D. It's incredible. Trust me.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 7:28 PMIMAX 3D from what I've heard from someone here in the know regarding the technical processes. Real 3D if you're on a budget.

That's 99 for 3D and 0 for 2D?
Has anyone actually seen it in 2D yet?

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 8:58 PMI haven't been a fan of 3D, but I'm going to put the glasses on for Prometheus. My theatre is showing it in IMAX 3D on the 8th and I'll be there for the 1st showing.

MemberOvomorphJun-01-2012 9:19 PMWith 3D are you better off sitting further back in the theatre or does it not make a difference (vs 2D viewing)?

MemberDeaconJun-02-2012 8:31 AMDepends on Budget and how much it cost extra....
I saw it in Real 3D and i will now watch movies i really want to see in Real 3D provided they are movies that would benefit.
There are no real throw things out of the screen at you 3D moments, the Storm stands out as one.
Its all about depth and perception.... like the Holograms, the other such peices of Tech on the Ship, they all stand out, really stand out.
The sence of Depth in the scenery scenes and space scenes is fantastic.
The way the credits and other on screen writting apears to be way more forwards than the movie shot behind it is a nice effect....
I would say go see it in 3D.......

MemberOvomorphJun-03-2012 12:20 AMwith regard to IMAX I would suggest being on the very back roe of the middle section or premium seats. Whatever ou do, try and get in the centre. I was 3 rows forward from the back of the middle section and even then I actually had to adjust my head occasionally!

MemberOvomorphJun-03-2012 12:22 AMit's funny seeing people joke about 4D. In reality, everything we see is actually 4D anyway, literally speaking.

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 2:46 PMAs it was filmed in 3D and I saw it in 3D I see no reason to go see it in 2D. But I'm sure it looks great either way. The 3D immerses you in the world, enhances it. It's not poke you in the eye 3D.
