Who made this film anyway?

I'm finding it very interesting reading the boards now having seen the film as opposed to before when we were all just expecting it. My thoughts are that opinions are like assholes. We all have one! But seriously. Ridley Scott made the film and he made the decisions that made it what it is, not us. If all the theories we had were in it, it would be ABOMINABLE. Yes some of it doesn't work, but there were bits of Alien I found boring that others might find amazing and vice versa. What I came away with this evening was that Alien worked by accident. If anything Prometheus fails because it has been overthought. (As evidence of wrong footing, would we like Alien if it had included RS original idea of the alien biting Ripley's head off at the end and recording the last log in her voice? He's not right ALL the time). But until we all complete long careers as multi-million dollar box office smash directors, I think we should remember it was his film to make - and I think he'll do rather nicely out of it too.

You're very right mate. Especially the bit about 'I think we should remember it was hi8s film to make'. The other day I was talking about the Hobbit trailer and found myself saying 'I just wasn't impressed with the footage i saw. Peter Jackson will have to up his game...' And then i stopped, remembered that Peter Jackson is a visionary who made three unfilmable books into three stunning films. I, on the other hand, work a 9-5 job, have no responsibilities, and am pretty irrelevant. Not sure where I get the right to criticise at all?!

He does have a responsibility to his fans, but we're his fans, not the other way round!

George Lucas and Michael Bay were the driving forces
