ITS AMAZING...end of. Spoiler free

"We get a good ORIGINAL story for this movie, that yeah may seem a bit rushed to people but look how much they had to fit in to it" Agreed, and i think people took my comments bad.... i am not Trolling, i agree and said nice plot, shame the movie never had longer because they had so many elements that really needed more than 2 hours.... But Ridley can pick out certain elements that stood out and need evolving/exploring with a Prometheus 2 etc... People have different views about the movie, about every movie. some may come across harsh in their critics of it, some may respond back harsh... I think people should go and see the movie because if your a Sci Fi buff, then this is a movie that is trying hard to be different and pleases in many ways...... the alternative is a pop corn flick like Battleship etc.... As my thread said... the movie is not bad, as in its not as bad as all those who have complained.... wasted opputinity, i meant because i felt the plot and scope could not be told in 2 hours so the opputinity was that Ridley was maybe never given the time or budget to allow him 3 hours of his new and "orginal compared to many others" story. But potential, because this movie has so much potential for Prometheus 2.

I was particularly disappointed with some of the character exposition although the central character's of vicker's, david, and shaw, were for the most part good, the lack of a sense of despair and concern by the likes of janek and the co pilots and their rushed solution to the apparent horror to their crews situation and nonchalant approach to the solution was unbelievably handled in such a low key comic book style the story began to lack any credibility from that moment on . The lack of any sense of an insight into the Techniques of the engineers technology in bio mechanics, and gene manipulation, were not even touched upon, or shown, or even debated, i guess this is where a sequel will lie but in all honesty there was so much missing that needed to be included in this it left me wanting a genuine epic that charts the time scales of earths lifes origins, and the details and reasoning behind such a bold undertaking and the consequences of the discovery of that were seriously overlooked and not even touched upon .

There's nothing in the least bit confusing in it whatsoever even a child of 10 can understand the plot the thing people are unhappy with and not that impressed with is the execution and the exposition of the story and how that was presented. Visually its fine . The story does leave one with questions that's a good thing but the way the story flows and the thinking behind the execution of this and the really big questions and obvious points of interests in the scripts presentation don't even began to get answered or even asked or even attempted to ask and that's where it falls down . The story is so simple a child could of wrote it. and in some parts it feels like thats what happened .

Im afraid that's life....this movie is bad Believe me I was defending this movie all the way up til when I saw it yesterday..But I refuse to defend Lindelof's shoddy script, I REFUSE Ridleys direction was good, but he really should have controlled the script and dialogue... worth a look, but insults the viewers intelligence too much

@David 1 I guess your right.... We have to remember that FOX are the bosses.... Do we think Ridley would have wanted the level of Trailers and TV Spots.... those elements spoilt a lot of mytrey for the fans.... i.e the Jockey being humaniod... Those trailers could be more aimed at the general sci fi fan and general public.... Also if FOX said to Ridley we do not want to make a Alien Prequel we want you to make a Sequel...... Ridley may had said no thanks and we get no movie... So we dont know if there are indeed more depth to the movie, that FOX are holding back so they can sell DVD's/Blue Rays and SE Cinema Tickets. Lets say the movie does have a extra 20 mins now shown... would that be Ridleys idea...... nope it would be Fox so they can then Milk DVD Sales....

During this night has been a lot of fury and anger unleashed, in my opinion is an exaggeration.

Here is my marks out of 10........ Visuals........ 9/10 Especially 3D attention to detail is great. Characters..... 7.5/10 Some good acting but i think some Characters underused.... again maybe because movie had to be fitted into 2 hours odd. Plot.......... 8/10 Great Plot just maybe not executed as well, by that the scope of the plot needed longer Film to tell. Principle it was very good. Sound....... 7.5/10 Good Music, lacked plenty Special effects sounds, but then mainly because its not all out Action movie. But a story.... not a Horror or Action. Monsters..... 8/10 Good ideas, shame we never got to see much more of them.... then again this movie is not about Monsters/Aliens, it has a deeper story its trying to tell. Apart from the Engineer but then thats what the movie is about. Action....... 7/10 Some decent action type moments but again this is not a action movie... Horror...... 7.5/10 Again this for me lacks that tense horror aspect of Alien or combined with shock value of the Thing, i guess its harder to impress in Horror Genre nowadays, does have a few good jump out of yout seat moments, that sadly wont have as much effect on those who saw the scenes in Trailers and TV Spots, but those who have not seen the Trailers would Jump out of their Skin about 2-3 times for sure. Overall....... 7.7/10...... but i am very critical.... The Thing remake got 5.5/10 from me...... Cabin in Woods 4.5/10 For me to round that up it would be.... 4/5* Great Visuals and Effects, Good Orginal Plot, just needed more attention to detail to certain aspects and Characters... overall Good Sci Fi flick that always had it hard to live up to the masterpeices Ridley Scott made in his last adventures into Sci Fi.

Agreed - we all knew that this didn't really have the Xeno & yes, it does not fit tno "Their" proposed plot. I say, go write a better movie if you can (hope you do) - if it's good enough, it will get picked up. Active procrastination is the enemy of moving forward...

BigDave: with a bit of luck there will be an extended version of Prometheus in BR/DVD. I wouldn't mind if the movie went for 5 hours, as long as it keeps me interested.

It's nice to hear a positive review. Didn't RS repeatedly say that this was never meant as a direct Alien prequel and that it was to be viewed as a stand alone film? I think this is one of the reasons people are so pissed. They are also irked that it doesn't perfectly fit into their speculated plot. But, this has all been said.

Some critics are fans disappointed and others are just a bunch of stupid trolls , and curiously this site has received new professional moviegoers in just a couple of hours...can you believe it? LOL

I think the hardcore fans - many of them - are hard to please - their egos have been dented because the story was not what THEY wanted. I say tough shit... Wait until the sequels (pending box office) The reaction is WAY OTT I watched Sci-fis "SUPERTANKER" last night... well, 20 mins - now that is a shite movie. Stop being spoilt.

On the other hand the movie is good ... a masterpiece? Well, for me it is not ... but it certainly is a good movie and deserves to continue IMO

its all about opinion. and its not like a sports team, where people are getting tribal over a movie. and it always seems to be the ones that haven't actually seen the movie yet that are getting passionate and dismissive of negative responses. fact is, i can debate why this movie doesn't work for me. but i will see it again. Visually stunning, Soundtrack i liked. didn't like the rushed editing and major plot holes. gets a 5/10 from me.
