for me its the script. its lazy. The characters make random decisions. Editing feels rushed. I will go see it again, 3-D was pretty great. But i'll have a different mindset now, and maybe it'll be a better experience, but it can't rectify the plot holes and logic it chooses. not the worse film ever, i'm sure there will be harsher comments. 5/6 outta 10 for me.

It didn't answer anything, that's what die hard "Alien" fans are disgruntled about. The film was actually pretty good, it just shouldn't have been in any way related to the Alien franchise. But because of the loose references to the space jockeys/engineers, the fans still don't have the answers to the questions Ridley claims to have answered in Prometheus.

I think it was Dan O'Bannon that said something like you know when you see something that's totally original, so unique and disturbing. He was talking about Gigers work he had seen, the same artwork he showed to Ridley which bonded the two of them together with the same vision, and we got Alien. I dont know how many times in the film industry a writer connects with the visualist, aka the Director, who then has to drive the whole film production to that vision. I think Ridley has tried his abolute best to deliver to fans expectations that if we are honest, would have to be a whopper shock factor to top how I felt when I first saw Alien, and the Space Jockey reveal. I went to see it Friday night. There's some subtle connects to Alien, a few times I made a silent "aaahha". Atleast Ridley has set the bar on this new journey, I'm on for the ride and looking forward to seeing the next one. p.s. what was that with the music. terrible choice. bring back jerry's score in the Directors Special Edition, I'll buy the box set promise!

I haven't seen the movie, but why does Rapace sound exaggeratedly naive? and her thick accent... It looks to me like her transition from "believer" to "survivor" will be ham-handed, courtesy from the writers

Seen it twice now was absolutely devasted 1st time round however it has grown on me The reason I disliked it on that 1st showing is that having only seen the trailer previously it wasn't the movie depicted in the trailers when the chair comes through the floor I thought after 23 years of questions (I'm 30 and to be fair those questions started will "dad whats that" in regards to the jockey) Other minor reasons were the lack of character development there is a great cast that is wasted and some pretty glaring plot holes the birth of cuddles for example whilst being one of my favourite scenes in the movie is forgotten about 30 seconds later All in all I feel Prometheus is a good movie which could have so easily been great but fails to live up to its potential

I liked it I thought it was a good prequel I was only dissapointed by the scares I jumped once or twice but the rest wasn't that scary. I believe some of the negative reviews was because prometheus didn't explain the events from Alien. Prometheus tells you about the origins of man, the space jockeys and the creation of the Xenomorph not the unexplained events from Alien. Prometheus is like The Phantom Menace is doesn't tell you about The Clone Wars or Anakin turning into Darth Vader until the next sequel. Prometheus tells about creation and origin of how it began and then it will explain the events from Alien in the next sequel.

OMG. For a basic rubbish script for zero thought being made watching a movie I would give this a 10. But for a movie that should explain least a bit of story and have good dialogue with the right marketing. Then this movie is shit. Ridley has lied in his interviews I can't wait when he gives an interview after the film because already the movie is failing you can view current state of sales and is dropping like shit from your arse.

Why is everybody being so negative about the movie? Because it's really not very good. And this has nothing to do with questions remaining unanswered. That's fine; they can be covered in the sequel. What kills Prometheus is some poor and unimaginative writing that sees character after character do some really stupid things in order to create situations where they can come to harm. It also contains some of the most inconsistent character behaviour ever committed to film. For example: if you travelled to a distant planet and found a tomb covered in alien hieroglyphics, would you not ask the translator within your team "what does that say?". You would think somebody might be a little bit curious. Not in Prometheus; nobody seems the least bit interested in what's around them...despite it supposedly representing their life's work. They are also a very forgetful bunch too, to a point that defies belief and all sense of logic during the final third of the film. Honestly, if you thought AvP was dumb, you ain't seen nothing yet!

Fair enough Legendary... but i was going with an open mind to that, and so yes, you have to take it as a different film in that regard, it set up nicely as a different film, but the last hour and the manner in which it gets executed, how we get from A to B to C, ok now forget B and A. ( and now repeat), was lacking at best.

The script, simple as that. There wasn't a story which needed telling, and the illogical actions of the characters drive scene after scen of filler, most of which has no bearing on the conclusion or ideas the film is supposed to be exploring. I've never been to a showing before where there was such a stunner silence when the credits rolled.

Fair one legend Do ya think it would have made a difference if we knew beforehand it was going to be split movie or part of a trilogy????? I'd heard rumours but nothing concrete but then again I might have missed something I did try to avoid all interviews etc for fear of spoilers

I thought the choice of music was brave actually. Romantic/Adventure music. Instead of just repeating what's gone before. The film is a great exploration after all. It is true about the heiroglyphics. I hadn't thought much about that: they didn't seem curious enough - didn't demand to know from David what the meant. Really Holloway should have been at least as interested on returning to the ship as Shaw was, Instead he just went into the dumps and got drunk. Seemed bored. My wife and I still bloody loved it - but an extra 30 minutes for added depth would have helped. Perhaps the BluRay will expand it slightly? alienage11.com

hey ....it's like a piece of abstract art....you look and stare and you either get it or you don't....it's not lazy script writing....the plot was written in such a fashion that it is meant to be confusing and add mystery....it does not have to explain anything....it's open for interpretation....just like the questions in Alien was....it does answer some questions....like the jockey is in fact a suit. and it is meant to clarify some assumptions that was made by the first movie...it never answers directly....it begs for an audience with imagination!

Sorry Mr Pest All the interviews and news about a sequel to discuss were announced days before the movie open in cinemas. But I haven't spill the beans about Prometheus, I seen it but I will not tell about it because I'm not a spoiler.

@juxtapose Please spare me the "its full of nuances" and "you have to fill in th gaps" or "you didnt understand it". These are standard cannards to hide behind when an expert on invisible tailoring points out the emperer is in fact stark b****ck naked. What we are talking about is basic script writing 101. A strong central plot, maybe a subplot, driven along by believable characters acting in a way which doesn't break my WTF-o-meter every five minutes.

RS missed the chance of explaining how Jones (the cat) locked himself up in a Nostromo locker. How did he managed to open it? Why did he get inside? How the door slammed behind him? What made Jones so curious about that locker? What was in there? Would he have died if Ripley, Brett and Parker did not open the locker? Was he also looking for the Xenobaby?
