I'll lower your expectations for you :)

Prometheus is rubbish. You will hate it. Xenomorphs EVERYWHERE; facehuggers EVERYWHERE on EVERYTHING; constant chestbursting - even the ship's budgie gets burst; everybody gets splashed with ACID; lots of pipes all over the place that look like aliens; ALL of the crew are robots - surprise surprise - and get their heads knocked off; Lance Henrikson shows up AGAIN, insisting he's not Weyland; and they blow everything up from space AGAIN) Utter rubbish. Now: relax, and enjoy :) John alienage11.com

No JDOG, you were clearly pissed that Scott "shit" on the "SJ legacy" by making them humanoid. Otherwise, you wouldn't have mentioned it. You only proceeded to dig the hole deeper by going on to complain that it was an "uninspired choice." But this is my favorite: "And no I didn't watch the trailer because they present a false image of a movie these days." That's about as thin as you're claiming the plot of this movie is.

LoL, why the confrontation? I was being perfectly honest about me not liking them, of course I'm going to mention it, as I did. But I listed a bunch of other stuff too in several threads. But the fact that you are hell-bent on focusing on that says something about yourself as well I believe. As for that "hole digging statement", sorry that makes as much sense as the plot of Prometheus. As far as the plot goes: you're allowed your opinion on it. I don't find it particularly fascinating but that's one thing were I can accept opinions on this movie differing. Bringing the trailer into this is irrelevant as you have no idea about my preconceptions about the plot, my current interpretation of it (which I haven't mentioned anywhere) or anything else. It's just you being a bit rude.

There may be perfectly legitimate reasons not to like this movie.....but dashed personal expectations are not among them. That is my only point. Heck, I may end up agreeing with you on other grounds, but expectations? Not a chance.

@Artyoh, I agree expectations shouldn't be a factor. Clearly they were to some extent in my case, but again: I've listed plenty of other reasons nothing to do with expectations as to why I didn't like it. It just felt as if you simply singled that element out and dismissed my entire opinion because of it. Clearly it is important to me, but I'll save the discussion on the impact those original images of the Space Jockey had on me, and what the effect on that memory/experience was after seeing Prometheus, for another day. But from my tone you must be able to deduct certain things. In short though, expectations not met aside (I can assure you I was hoping not for an Alien prequel), there's still a lot of other things wrong here. And @ sukkal, I'm sorry I'm not a native speaker. I try my best but I'm not going to pull out a dictionary to find the exact word I'm looking for, semantics was close enough. Sorry to hear you don't like that word.

The reason I singled it out, is that it's so easy to allow expectations to subconsciously influence an overall opinion. Some of the hyper-emotional vitriol ( "hanging" Lindelof or Scott, ring a bell? ) i've read from a number of members, is simply out of sync with professional critical opinion re: this movie. It suggests that those people feel like a strong emotional investment has been compromised. That might be because the movie really is a POS......but in some cases, it is probably more the result of dashed expectations, than wholly incompetent work by the director and/or any of his collaborators.

@JDOG — Your English is exquisite. I never would have guessed that you were not a native speaker. Please read what I wrote again. I genuinely LOVE the word, ‘semantics’. I'm not being facetious at all.

Watch...Enjoy or Dislike....accept. I will see it tomorrow. I may like the movie....I may dislike some aspects of the movie....but doubt I will hate it.

@ frantz prometheus is down to 77% on rotten tomatoes and 7.9 on imdb but we're only going to get a true feel for what people think once everyone has seen it AND rated it dont forget though ratings sites like these arent used by everyone and thus might be misleading i wonder how many people on this very site have watched the movie and taken time to rate it on rotten tomatoes? to blindy keep throwing rotten tomatoes at everyone is slightly niave dont you think

@mr pest, a voice of reason. Any review, anywhere, I always take with a pinch of salt. No-one is better judge of a film than oneself. I enjoyed it very much. Holes & all.

cheers chronic having seen the movie twice i HATED 1st time round which i felt was partially my fault and that of the marketing of the movie however having gone back to see it again its grown on me so i can understand how people felt dissapointed by it but also if they just give it a chance it is an enjoyable movie if not what i expected/wanted to see

@mr pest . Good man. You'd of thought by now people would be a little less hasty to jump down it's throat. Didn't Alien get mixed reviews when it was first released? Bladerunner bombed, look at the two films now. After almost half a century of fermenting they're seen as not only jewels in the sci-fi crown but in film history. Let's see what happens when the states get a hold of it at the weekend. I'd say 'Ridley, prepare yourself' :)

Yup. Tell you what - for a film with lots of legacy baggage - lots to live up to - and that doesn't cynically and lazily repeat what's gone before I think it'll fare way better than Phantom Menace has.

I think the paper Prometheus is by far better than the hard-drive 3-D version been shown at cinemas/ Let me know when the paper version is on HD1080p with dtsHDMA 7.1 for that gritty paper rustling sound and paper 3-D its going to be money well spent. :p
