Beginning sets up a big disappointment (SPOILER)

(sorry for typos, first post didn't submit so had to rewrite) The trouble with Prometheus is it seems like the writers made it up as they went along. There is no coherent back story, and no reveal, thus the whole film is has no base. 1) Why do the archeologists jump to the conclusion that the visitors depicted in cave paintings are "engineers"? This isn't explained. 2) Why suddenly ignore that we share 99% of our DNA with Chimps (and therefore a common ancestor), and become Creationists? 3) If the engineers seed DNA on Earth, how does this fit in with us, Neanderthals and Chimps etc? Why are Neanderthals and primates so similar to us? If the engineers made us then refer to point 2. Too many other really bad scenes in the film: * Engineers sending us to a bio warefare outpost!? (big supposition) * Reanimated exploding head * David putting unknown gunk in water for unknown reason * Geologist in charge of mapping getting lost * Scared guy playing with alien Snake (Jurassic Park) * Random people getting killed by Geologist (The Thing) * Father! * Setting up the ship to crash at the end in almost exactly the same position as in Alien, only it isn't a prequel. This could have been so much better and I can't believe how generous the reviewers have been. Prometheus is inherently flawed from the start to the terrible finish, and the worst part is the first 40 minutes could have been resolved during the rest of the film if only it was well written. -Transmission over-

@Ksunday if people here are trying to validate and make sense of this atrocious screen play then they were just as suckered as the other positive reviewers. The movie is stupid and it does not take a person with a 10th grade education to see that. It makes no sense; it is incoherent; ruins the Alien universe as we know it and it was simply sloppily made. I put on the original today and see how the quality of the original kicks this one in the ass (superior script, sets, music score, suspense, horror, etc) and it was made for a fraction of the cost than this one and had an unknown cast at the time. It was an insult to even use the original score in the Weyland hologram scene. Duped again!

@Visualeyes Are you sure the main problem isn't the dum script not being enjoyed by us discerning viewers? It didn't strike me that money was an issue making this film. Have you read the T3 interview? @colonial soldier After reading the T3 interview, you are totally right...I quote: [DL] I think that one of the things that I love about Ridley’s movies...is 30-some odd years after Blade Runner we’re all still talking about whether or not Deckard is a replicant. So there’s a speculative part of it – the question becomes, “What does the black goo do?” That is the question that you’re supposed to be asking coming out of this movie. The movie demonstrates what it does in certain circumstances. So, here’s what it does if it gets on worms; here’s what it does if it gets on your face; here’s what it does if someone just puts a little bit of it in your drink. The black goo is Ridley's Jar Jar Binks.
