Engineer from Alien...shared the same fate as...

Dunno,it is a question I have thought about. I'm sure some of the smartarses will have an answer for you though. They will probably say he was the only one in the last room or something smart like that.

Well, thats good question, my best theory is: he didnt get away, he was already in the sleeping chamber before all went wrong, like a crew member you wake up when you need him, not just for fun. With all the tubes/hoses he had in him, that wasnt just a nap or so, he was really prepared for a long sleep.Maybe it wnet like this: they placed the pilot engineer into that sleeping pod, put him to sleep, then prepared for launch.While that happened, something went wrong.He could also be some kind of weapon engineer or something, who's job is to release the black goo once the target destination has been reached.He could also be a sacrifice engineer that gets woken up when the target is reached. The mass of dead bodies in front of the door that leads to that room tells me that they were either fleeing from something and trying to reach a safe place (that room) and the door was slammed down and they hammered against it until they were killed, while the engineer was safe inside the room in his chamber not knowing what happened outside that room.

Well this was simular to my theory before the movie came out and we saw the Cast.... I thought Sacrefice Engineer could be one who decided to take what ever the Engineers or maybe a rogue Engineer created off the planet and to a safe place or to dispose of it... Only he could not make his destination and LV 426 was the safest baron place to Quarantine the Organism.... Maybe this Engineer got face hugged but then latter before he got Chest Busted then tried to Quarantine/Dispose of the Xeno... This was based on seeing the clues from the Trailer inc dead bodies, Ghost Engineers and the holes in the sarcophagus... That was not the case as the Sacrefice Engineer ended up being the one at the Water Fall but you know maybe something simular to my theory is what happened... Maybe we will find out or maybe not...

A thoery I have is that the Engineer that was asleep is an 'ass hole' he set this bioweapon loose on his colleagues but got himself safely locked in the cryochamber. My reasoning.... why would they be running away from the space ship and towards the chamber with the black goo??? .....

All of this needs to be excruciatingly detailed / explained in the sequel. These simple questions must be explained. This should be the premise / eventual story of the next one or maybe the 3rd film in this series. There really is enough content here to be creatively expanded into a really great movie that will give us more than satisfaction. We need more than what we're getting, IMO.

it would take far too many films to make sense of this bloomin spagetti junction of loose ends, seriously, someone needs to slap lindhoffs baldy bap and just say NO! you couldnt join the dots in this film with a whole suitcase of pencils ffs. better to just rub it out and start again lol.

It could well be that he's the pilot and navigator, not the weapons specialist, so he sleeps while the others mess about with bioweapons. And seeing as nobody else is using the bridge after their little mission briefing (as recreated in the hologram sequence, where 4 discuss it, and then 3 leave) the big thick door comes down. As to why the others all run to the chamber, I suspect that the answer lies in that mysterious green crystal there. You notice that the chamber seems to be climate controlled and all the bio-goo is dormant inside? (until David opens it and he's far to concerned with finding stuff out to please his boss, to worry about being careful not to trigger things. In fact he's quite happy to start things up so they can see what happens.) Perhaps the green crystal thing is part of the control, and they could have put the black goo back into dormant mode. You notice from the holo replay that 3 run towards the chamber, and 2 get in...one only gets his head in. Yet, when the chamber is open, there's just his head, so the other two, who may be dead somewhere else, are not dead in the chamber. The engineers suits may be acid proof or not we don't know. Certainly the cobra looking thing can find its way into a suit.

SPOILERS - I agree the other thing is where does it go with Shaw and a Head on a ship to a world where no one will be speaking any kind of human language. Maybe they draw things on walls?

The sleeping engineers was put their as a sentry after the attack 2000 years before. I assume the engineers re-took the temple and destroyed or removed the aliens and left him there.

Lindelof is sure taking a beating over this. We can't even get his name right, lol. Someone needs to come up with a nickname for DL that we all can use for future reference.

I don't think DL "took over" RS's story...all these DL haters need to get a life and quit blaming this dude LOL! I could care about him one way or another...but Spahits and Lindelof both said this was RS's direction...they just filled in the gaps. So, if you hated the open ended story telling (I for one did not), beat up RS...after all, it was his story ultimately. DL doesn't posses mind control powers (as far as I know), nor is RS's mind so feeble that he can let someone take his comeback moment and destroy it with "their" own story direction. OMG people...get real!!!
