MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 4:47 PMDear forum members,
This year I was most of all looking forward to Prometheus and The Hobbit from a movie perspective.
Now Prometheus has let me down, I am really hoping that The Hobbit does not!

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 4:57 PMeheheh im a bit scared about the hobbit ...i did love LOTR but the hobbit is a much more shallow book ...almost for kids instead that the total masterpiece that LOTR book is .
Btw the song of the trailer totally won me .... we will see ... with prometheus ive been satisfied even if its not the masterpiece i was hoping for , "just" a very very good movie .
For the hobbit ive the same fear ...good movie , almost excellent but below LOTR

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 4:59 PMThese are also my two most anticipated movies of the year (in fact the only anticipated movies) And I liked Prometheus. But I can guarantee you, Peter Jackson is the most devoted director I know of, he is more committed to that movie than anybody else could ever be. If it doesn't turn out the way its supposed to, that means somebody else has messed it up for him.

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 5:01 PMP.S. NO, the Hobbit WILL NOT be as good as the Lord of the Rings, because it was based on an inferior book. PLEASE for your own sake, lower your expectations according to what you thought of the book, or at least don't expect a second Lord of the Rings, it's not the same.

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 5:12 PMwell to me JAckson did a PERFECT thing with LOTR but he canned totally the end of the Pelennor battle with that total absurd arrival of the deads army ...that ruin a bit part of the movie for me ...

I'll see The Hobbit for sure no matter what Prometheus is like or what anyone says about either.

MemberOvomorphJun-06-2012 5:33 PMAbsolutely loathed the return of the king and the debacle the movie made out of Gondor, Denethor and Faramir.....have zero expectation with regards to the hobbit, but its a childrens book so i think Jacksons heavyhanded directing might be quite spot on for it.

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2012 6:48 AMFrantZ: He was just doing what Tolkien wrote in the book, but taking it a bit further, technically the same thing could have happened in the book, but Tolkien just decided not to.

MemberOvomorphJun-07-2012 8:02 AMIf you follow LOTR/Tolkein etc you're opnions and outlook might be different to someone that doesn't
Same begs for Prometheus

MemberOvomorphDec-30-2012 12:31 AMI watched The Hobbit in 48 fps, 3D. Loved it. There are some scenes where it is VERY real and you feel as if you are right there. The 48 fps does not give you thsa 'glossy' cinema feel. However, there are one or two scenes where you think, 'oooh, that looks like a TV made for movie' becuase it is so clear. That being said, the movie is AWESOME. The Hobbit can never be as 'good as' the LOTR becuase the book is not as deep but Jackson si really giving it everything he's got. The movie is excellent and was very enjoyable. Martin Freeman and Richard Armitage are superb.
