Should Fassbender win an oscar?

I think is great acting but a too strange role to be nominated for the oscar ...and too limited in time .

Can't see an Oscar going to someone playing an android in a sci-fi film.

I think he just deserves an Oscar in general, he unjustly got snubbed by the Oscars for his performance in Shame. He blows almost all actors currently working in movies out of the water.

I don't think he will get one for Prometheus because Sci-fi actors rarely get nominated (Sigourney did for Aliens but she did not win) BUT he will be getting more roles now thanks to his performance in Prometheus and will most likely be nominated for an Oscar in the Future. He would make a great James Bond, won't be surprised if he gets chosen for that next.

I was deep impressed by fassbender when i saw him the very first time in inglorious basterds from tarantion. He had a relative little role - but he LIGHTENED the whole scene and i did forget about the movie, but not about HIM. My fav actor nowadays, even before prometheus. So i was very happy to see HIM (and not russel crowe or bad christian bale - toally overrated!) in prometheus. Yeah i would give him an oscar - played fine in prometheus. Dont know who else should get one this year, in comparison to facebender. Best Scene... hmm.. there were so many BAD scenes in prometheus that this is a hard question... maybe when he is alone on the ship while everone is sleeping... dont know which of his scenes in prometheus would be worth an oscar... unfortunatelly!

He should get a nomination for this,the only one acting wise for the film because he stands out... . Obviously the special effects/score etc will do well.

I'd give him and Oscar just for the closeups in the viral vid! I haven't seen the film yet, but based on what I EXPECT and what I've heard, I could see him getting it for [i]best human as an android in a supporting role[/i]. LOL. Drakeequation is correct about his acting prowess in general, but most members of the Academy would probably not even admit to watching [i]Shame[/i]. America is that "whatever we are"... There probably also might have been some level or mechanism in [i]Shame[/i] via which the audience could have been better connected with the character's pain, even if viewers can't imagine having the same affliction. I don't know if that was the fault of the directing or the acting, honestly.

a great interpretation of Fassbender is in Centurion ...great charisma in a good movie .

He truly did an incredible job but I doubt a roll like this would get an oscar....dont ask me why.

The material lets him down. He did an outstanding job but I felt the script got in the way. I'd be surprised if anyone here would say they completely understood the motivations of the David character - and that's the script's fault. So he did well in spite of the poor writing and execution - but as some have speculated, the director's cut edition may expose a better film and hence an even better Fassbender performance.

An Oscar for playing a character that was required to show no emotion whatsoever? Just show up and remember your lines? naw... doubtful ;)
