This scene left last nights opener crowd at the AMC in San Francisco laughing. Of course it's not an alien prequel. It was a coneheads prequel!! Who the hell designed that crap? It was awful!!

I don't think they could've designed anything that would make anybody happy. Any variation of a xenomorph that isn't classic is going to be criticized. I thought it was cool, reminded me of a cross between gollum, a xeno, and for some reason a velociraptor though(maybe because of the sounds it made). It probably needs time to grow into something bigger and more menacing, something we'll see in the sequel.

This alien was an earlier version of the original. My god if people actually learn how to pay attention then maybe they would not be so upset

In theory, the ship on LV 426 has been there for at least 2000 years. Probably coming here to wipe us out. I guess I'm trying to say there's nothing proto about this xeno, the xenos were already created at least 2000 years ago if not longer. I'm wondering if what we saw in the mural ( the one with the Jockey) is what they originally meant to create without all of the "accidents". Which is what we see branch of from Shaw, and also from the Derelict and Kane.

ALien DNA, I think your idea makes sense but didn't Ridley state that what we get at the end is a "Proto" xeno and that it is to the xeno what apes are to man? Well, my problem with that is the DNA of the Engineers matches human DNA. So why would there be any significant difference in the resulting xenos?

time23: remember alien 3, how the alien took it's hosts shape - dog, yak? (depending on version you seen) well same applies, except here: it's bigger due to the size of its host, since it's the first 'alien' on this planet, wouldnt it assume the role of the queen? the giant facehuuger would have died due to laying its seed, so you would have to envision this parasitic motherfucker is here to seed the planet (no life left on it though unfortunately?) this whole movie does not make sense, if the xeno walks into the DNA host room does it then change too? can it become infected? or does it just take a shit in the black oil and move on?

The reason that the Xeno is different, because evolution is not always certain to give the same results. Also it was created through intercourse, it is possible that the engineers don't/no longer have females, and that creation of the Xeno through the womb has never been done. The other possibility is that the alien ship on 426 has not been there as long as we think, and the origin of the Xeno we know is yet to be created. Maybe even through shaw. Maybe she is the prototype for the queen herself. Who knows ridley is telling us jack.

I dont think the Xeno is alone. Remember all those other ships? Im thinking that there is another engineer or two on the other ships..and thats how the Xeno's start to dominate.

A dog or Yak is probably a 90-95 percent match so the changes in the xeno with a dog host would be more drastic than the changes with a host that has a perfect match to our DNA.

Not in this thread but others, people have been asking how there could've been two murals of xenos in the ampule room if it didn't exist yet, but i think the answer is righ there. I think It implies that they've already made them before and that's also what wiped all the jockeys in that installation out. They made a Bio Weapon to specifically wipe us out and it got out of hand, dare I say it similarly what happened in alien rez when they tried to harness the weapon. I just read today that originally the reason they were going to wipe us out was because Jesus was one of them and we crucified him, but this was taken out for one reason or another. Maybe this is the reason the mural of the crucified , retribution on us for our sins against them. This would also make sense for the face hugger seeming to be designed specifically for our heads as it probably was, my question is if they were only created 2000 years ago or if they're more ancient than this.

it could also be subspecies of the xenomorph species or a beta version while the one in Alien is the final version

wait a second guys. if shaw was infertile does that mean she in actual fact she didn't consieve the creature, it was transmitted sexually like a STI/STD? it would mean his sperm was infected because the creature would have grown from inside him first? so in order to reproduce (basically hints at the chicken or the egg theory) it created the abnormal face hugger that created the abnormal queen that will create the face hugger we've come to love that creates the xeno? wouldnt this make more sense?
