All you haters out there im not exactly sure where this is coming from. I went to see the midnight IMAX showing in Montreal and it completely lived up to my expectations and more. I havent been in a movie that sparked more post-viewing conversation since probably 2001. First off visually the work was masterfully crafted. Whether its vast scenery to every minute detail aboard the Prometheus ship, to the tech, to the caves in the pyramid. Every shot was beautiful to look at. I felt i could put a picture frame and put these images up on my wall lol. Need i mention the amazing musical score that kept tention up and set the tone for the movie. Casting wise I heard so much hate towards some of the characters, how certain characters werent fleshed out properly and so forth. I felt each character had their own moments whether big or small you didnt need any more. Fifield and Milburn got a couple laughs out of the audience. I dont think i need to mention how superb the main cast acted out their roles, Charlize, Noomi, Fassbender, Elba even Pearce were all excelent. Now for the story, hugely debated whether its flimsy and lacking in substance. I had no problems with it, for the two hours i was completely submerged in the story, it kept me guessing and led us to areas we wouldnt of expected. People complain about the lack of answers and certain points being left unexplained but thats the beauty of it. I love those open ended questions allowing the viewer to use his BRAIN and create his/her own theories. Ive read many many reviews, both positive and negative. Ive read posts onthis forum and the negative reviews have led me to believe that the reason WHY there is so much HATRED for this film is because they entered the theater with set expectations. People expected to see another ALIEN movie, similarly structured, similar tension, similar cast (people wanted another Ripley). THIS IS WRONG Weve been told again and again this is a STAND ALONE MOVIE, set in the universe of ALIEN. Ridley Scott set out to make a NEW film something different. He decided to go on another tangent and bring us something FRESH, NEW and EXCITING and in my book he has delivered spectacularly. This film was dark, creepy, well casted, exceptional direction from SIR RIDLEY SCOTT. One of the best movies Ive seen in a LONG TIME! Well deserves multiple viewings to catch all the details

I can't see why some people can't see this movie is crap, (and I was SO hoping that it lived up to a movie like Alien). Saying Alien would not make it today, is like saying Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho would pale to say...Michael Myers. Alien was CLASSIC, because it took the time to BUILD and yes 20th Century Fox even thought it was slow moving. Prometheus COULD have been a classic on its own, but just failed to deliver. As for music? To have a theme run through 1 -2-or 3 films is wise, but when I listened (and yes I am a musician), the FIRST thought was the score to Superman, and THAT'S JUST DAMN CHEAP AND LAZY. The music should also frighten us, make us jump, or just plain FEEL. Like the movie it feel short.

Belial81, I actually have seen this special substance of yours quite recently, but fortunately I was able to flush it down the toilet. The story of this movie is an insult to hard science-fiction as being illogical and contradictory. I understand the concept of cutting out certain key information, because this will create tension and will increase the hype around the title, but I seriously doubt, any sequel would be able to fill up the potholes left in this movie.

Lol @Talyn, the mere suggestion that AvP is better than any movie let alone Prometheus is comical, I have to agree with marcobot casting, story, score and the fact the movie was just an excellent Sci-Fi horror, I really enjoyed it the surprise addition of a Xenomorph like creature I would have thought would have appeased the fanboys (I myself know the scripts of Alien/s more or less backwards) and I was pleased to see some nods to the previous Alien movies. As for basing it on "THE SAME DAMN PLANET" Scott didnt, prometheus was based on LV 223 not LV426 (Though I would like an explanation as to how the engineers ship crashed on LV426 in a very similar fashion to the one on LV223). In short if you thought AvP was better than any movie at all your a fool and should really keep your opinions to yourself, I mean AvP?? Please tell me you were trying to be funny.

Not this again :( Why do the people who loved the movie feel the need to question the people who didnt, and make up assumptions on why those guys must not have liked it? I went in with an open mind but came out disappointed. It happens. If you liked it first time then thats great! No need to worry about those who didnt. Haters gonna hate and lovers gonna love...who cares? And also, haters gonna love!(as in my case)

They didn't base it on the same planet. (LV223/LV426) The score was awful. It took every opportunity to deflate any and all tension to that point There were 17 crew members??........ok Loved the invasive surgery scene If the could remote map the entire cavern system and detect bio signs, how did those two guys get lost? David certainly stole the show Charlize Theron once again shows us all how static she truly is Those pilots were extremely calm considering they were about explode(zero sweat) Loved that they managed to throw in a pterodactyl at the end

Let's not forget that Kane was a complete tool himself. Entered chamber, falls, decides to touch the egg, egg makes a shock noise, I say black goo starts to pour up it, it opens, he looks down in the egg and gets a hug. I know the team was really a odd mix of people but the original crew was no better except they started to communicate with each other for a little while anyway. I am also on the side that they didn't make the Aliens, they found them at some point. They mention in the film that they made weapons of mass but really aren't the Humans worse then Aliens when it comes to destruction, consuming and resilience?

I tell you what this movie really lived up to expectations. I will say that after leaving the theater I felt like it went by so quick and thats it. But I love how this movie still has me thinking and asking questions. Visually this movie was spot on and like others on this discussion I am so happy that the space jockeys have their own series and that Ridley put the launch pad together for it! for the ones that don't like it, well thats fine because I hated Avatar and got a lot of heat for saying that it is the live action Ferngully meets Dances with Wolves, so not everyone will see eye to eye which is ok! Were all individuals here.
