Alien: Earth and Alien: Romulus sequel news

How It Should Have Ended

While I enjoyed Prometheus overall, one of the biggest changes I would make (in addition to removing the Wayland character completely) would be the ending. I hated the cheesy looking proto-xeno creature. Looked like it was wearing a dunce cap. I would have much preferred the ending had it gone as follows (not sure I remember the dialogue exactly right): Shaw: "I don't want to go where they were going, I want to go where they came from." (sinister smirk) "Can you do that, David?" David: (pause) "Yes. I believe I can." [CUT TO BLACK, cue credits] Of course that would be even more of teaser "wait for the sequel" ending, but it would have wrapped things up in a much more cool and energetic way. Instead we got a very forced ending with a lame "final signoff" transmission from Shaw, and then the cheesy Dunce Xeno birth. And while I'm at it...I would also have cut the contrived "I can't have a baby" cryfest from Shaw immediately before she is impregnated.

@Squibby: yep. very cheesy looking creature / slapped on ending there is way that could have been done, and it would have been far more effective. i think we should have seen the fear and determination of Shaw as she was piloting the Juggernaut. a study of her sitting in the pilots seat, and of her in control of something massive / dangerous that the Engineers made, doing her best to keep it together i think parts of this film were awesome - and parts were just plain mediocre still, i will happily see it again, and already pre-ordered the Bluray =)

shardy - yes, have to agree with you...watching her determinedly piloting that thing would've been a blast. Instead, we get a typical Star Trek warping off into space send off. I'll have to disagree about the Deacon - although it was obviously a bone Ridley threw to ALIEN fans, I thought it was a well done and I liked the way it looked around as a new born would

going with the ending they gave us, it really makes no sense why they couldnt have just shown the SJ getting up, throwing cuddles off of him, getting into his ship, gets into his seat thinking he has won....then the creature bursts out of him. the SJ's blood sprays all over his suited corpse and begins to melt, expand, and "harden" himself in the suit. the same blood is covering the xeno who is immune but it melts a hole that the creature falls through. Then is gets up and roars. Youve tied into alien. Its a prequel and its not. the sequel is about shaw. Mission accomplished. (as far as endings). You dont have to elaborate anything else from alien but the SJs. Everything from here on will be new. But no....i have no idea why they gave us that proto scene if they intend to drift away from alien and not answer lv426. it makes no sense.

i think showing the black alien at the end is for a sequel. keep in mind we didnt actually see charlize theron die. its implied the ship landed on her but if they want to do a sequel with her, they can just say she fell in a hole and was saved. then she can go and find one of those enginer ships and try to go back home and have that black alien try to kill her. remember david said there were many more ships on the planet rather and just one more. i really think this is the direction they will go because charlize theron is going to be a better box office draw than noomi rapace.

The pro to chestburster scene is tired, uninspired and does't add anything to an incredible movie that comes before it. This obsession with ALIEN franchise needs to end. The concept art of that Chtulhu creature strangling the Engineer that somebody posted here has better lighting schemes than the dull final scene in the movie!!! The Creationist angle in this movie (humans, android, patriarchal cult etc) is much more interesting to me than another stupid Aline/Xeno tie-in. The add-on scene that takes place after the Juggernaut crash is so out of touch with the rest of the movie that I consider that an abomination. The Engineer dying from his own creation seems weak dramatically because all the deaths in this movie is caused by human themselves whether they are innocent victims (Fifield, Milburn stupidly petting an alien creature) or "asking for it" (arrogant Holloway calling David "a boy", Weyland asking for immortality). Even if there is the implication that the Engineer may head to Earth to destroy it, this is not spelled out in the movie. For all we know, The Engineer is probably more frightened than they are angry. The scene where he gets on the pilot seat is probably because he is running away from these violent monkeys, lol!! And the end where Shaw screams "Diiiiie!" sounds, well, hollow & silly in a b-movie way. And the Engineer's death by the tentacled beast is not satisfying at all. The giant squid is a result of David poisoning Holloway, not the Engineer's doing. This whole movie is about humans trespassing where they shouldn't. Very poor ending to a great movie that comes before it.

OK, that's that rant, it's out. How it should end: The Captain put Prometheus on auto pilot and crash it into the Juggernaut. The crew including Captain & co-pilots get off using the escape pods. Janek shares the pod with Vickers. The explosion should be more epic. The Ion drive is nuclear-powered and that should light up the sky pretty good. The Juggernaut crash-and-roll has the remaining crew running for their lives. Janek saves Vickers by grabbing her and rolling over. Engineer staggers out of the craft burning. He gives the Prometheus crew one last vengeful look before collapsing to the ground. The crew is divided: Shaw wants to continue on to the Engineer's world. Vickers, Janek & co-pilots want to regroup and possibly bring back more Mercs or Colonial Marines to settle scores. Plus she got a reason to bring back "Cuddles" already locked up in the lifeboat for her bio-weapon department to play with. This requires the lifeboat to have more than one cryo-chamber, so maybe the writers can get creative there, lol! Rather than the lame-ass "Die!!!" and the way-too-short fight with Cuddles, lame Proto Xeno burst out....what are they thinking'?? Don't get me wrong I love 90% of the movie, but the ending is super super weak, and should be completely excised from the movie!
