Shaw & Vickers = Morons

MemberOvomorphJune 10, 20121059 Views10 RepliesSo another dumb thing in the movie...when the Engineer's ship is crashing and falling over, Shaw and Vickers run forward in the same path as the falling ship.
If you saw a huge tree falling towards you, what's the best way to avoid it? Run to the side. Neither of them considered that?

Yeah this just another example of one of the many scenes in the film where supposedly smart scientists act like total idiots.

I have to admit, seeing how much of an impression Vickers left on the crew and movie, I was expecting a bit more. But I guess it's acceptingly ironic, someone that strong and resilient in character ended up not going out with a bang, but more of a whimper. No pun intended, lol.

@Squibby haha I am going to give you the type of answer a crazed fanboy would give in an attempt to discredit an indefensible plot hole in the movie:
I think by the time of the collision, Vickers acknowledges that there must be something supernatural in the way Shaw has managed to survive. As a "true believer", she must be being helped by God. So Vickers just follows her path in the hopes that she will be saved tooo!!!! Now what you think about that?? lol

... Did you not see the debris crashing on either side? It was either try to outrun the Juggernaut, or risk getting hit by a flaming piece of the Prometheus.

i liked vickers one of the few crew members to have any sense a bit like the captain. Shame she died

It actually isn't stupid.......The juggernaut is absolutely enormous. The way it came down, with the prong end striking first, it could have fallen over on its' side in either direction, instead of rolling along on its' axis. What you'd actually expect, is for it to fold and crumple up into the ground, like a tin can.
We could not possibly produce anything that large, which would remain intact after a fall like that. The Prometheus is completely obliterated in the impact......why is the juggernaut barely scratched?
Even though Shaw rolls quickly to the side several times after falling down....( OK, that was stereotypical ) she's still barely misses being crushed. It was the irregular shape of the juggenaut hull that saved her, because she actually wasn't far enough out of the way.
Given the totally counterintuitive behavior of that enormous ship as it struck the ground, I couldn't blame either one of them for being utterly confused. Scott is also telling us something about the Engineers'.....uh, engineering capabilities.
