The website amplicate tracks what people love and hate on social media. As of right now 52% of people hate Prometheus with 824 negative opinions out of 1,585. The next science fiction movie that comes close to this much hate is Skyline with 55% of people hating it. To contrast, James Cameron's blockbuster Avatar which is also a big-budget 3D science fiction film has only 21% hate. Do you think Prometheus may go down as one of the most divisive science fiction films to come out in the past decade? And more importantly, how is it that we live in a world were 45% of people actually like Skyline? The breakdown of audience ratings on IMdb is quite interesting too. Highest ratings from the under 18's, and the ratings reduce as the audicence age increases. I can see why this has to be a 15 now. If this is supposed to be an intelligent film this surprises me. IMO the hatred of this film comes from the fact that this film could have been better but was deliberately held back to save something for the sequels - playing the commercial long game. I think that the writers of this had a degree of arrogance and comtempt for their audience in that they thought they would swallow anything regardless of what they servced up.
