I noticed right away the goo container at the beginning has a tree of life on it. It is obvious that the engineer is dying to seed the earth with life. My thought is he is resurrected ala the Tree of Life, the myth not the movie. Oh, I did see the movie of that name. Generally, I liked it, but I didn't spend much time trying to make sense of it. So, it is still a little confusing,. That director (Aron ?) has been one of my favorites since seeing Pi and Requem to a Dream. Black Swan was good and more mainstream, which is why it won so many oscars. He should direct the next Prometheus sequel. His work is totally aligned with Prometheus' writer.

Terrence Malik directed The Tree of Life i feel its one of those rare films that has an esoteric following. when i was watching, i was able to enjoy it because i am aware of his style of film making / story telling. it is pensive / patient i thought the birth of the stars sequence was really fantastic to watch i wish Scott would have channeled his inner Malik a bit more for PROMETHEUS, and not rushed me out the door with his impatient style of story telling this time around ah well...

Yes, that was nicely done. There is one other tree in the film. Janus - oh, sorry, Janek uses it to mark the transition of the seasons. Did you notice they dropped out of warp speed on the Solstice?

I noticed the engraving but I really couldn't figure out what it was and now that you've mentioned it, it does resemble a tree of life. I haven't seen The Tree of Life heard the visuals are amazing, I'll put it on my watch list after I finish reading Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and watching the film (what? even the brain needs junk food)

Seen tree of life, one of malick's finest moments in film i thought. Pitch perfect a great piece of cinema.
