I want to leave it open to [Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace)] saying, 'I don’t want to go back to where I came from. I want to go where they came from.'"
Writer Damon Lindelof added: "['Prometheus'] has two children: One of these children grows up to be 'Alien,' but the other child is going to grow up, and God knows what happens to them. And that's what the sequel to 'Prometheus' would be."
Scott went on to explain that the original title of "Prometheus" was "Paradise." When Lindelof came on board, he changed the story to focus on bigger ideas of the "Alien" franchise, rather than on the creatures. As a result, the "Paradise" title will now likely become the name of the sequel, which will take us to the home planet of the Engineers. But that home planet will be far from paradise.
“Because [the Engineers] are such aggressive f*ckers, I always had it in there that the God-like creature that you will see actually is not so nice, and is certainly not God," Scott explained. "I'd love to explore where the [Dr. Shaw] goes next and what does she do when she gets there, because if it is paradise, paradise can not be what you think it is. Paradise has a connotation of being extremely sinister and ominous."
Scott is very interested in returning for the sequel and so is Lindelof, but Lindelof believes a new writer should step in. "It could actually benefit going into someone else's able hand," he said. "Although, I feel like some storyline has already been constructed based on conversations that Ridley and I had about it."
Since "Prometheus" had a strong opening for an R-rated movie, it's very possible that 20th Century Fox will pressure him to postpone his other projects in order to make a sequel. But the follow-up will definitely not happen before the director shoots "The Counselor."[/i]

MemberOvomorphJun-12-2012 3:53 PMWell, I hope it's not just some Xenos or snakes that killed all those engineers. Unless there were tons of them, which is not a road I want it to go down, I don't see a few Xenos taking down a bunch of guys who are bigger and technologically advanced.

This interview Lindelof is now hinting that the Xeno type Organism at the end of Prometheus leads somehow to the Alien in Alien.
And that Prometheus 2 will explore where Shaw goes....
But if Shaw finds the Engineers and their creators and they are as hostile as the Engineer they encountered in Prometheus then how long are Shaw and David going to last against them..... and if they then intend to carry out the mission that the Engineers on LV 223 failed at, then why would Earth be around at the time or Aliens....
Only way around that if true is that some Engineers from their homeworld set out to inspect the damage and what went down on LV 223 and then run into the Proto Xeno and at the end one of them attempts to get away with a Ship that somehow contains Eggs... or maybe not but then we assume the eggs are created by something else....

the contradiction you mention is different.
Prometheus Deacon doesn't go to Alien. It would answer that when things go wrong, other things grow out of engineers/humans. and that happened to the spaceship on lv 426
and what will they find on homeplanet? seems shit already spread with the engineers, the race might be quasi extinct

There will be NO CONNECTION at any chance, as this is FOSSILIZED so derelict on LV-426 is LONG LONG before prometheus even starts its mission.
No chance. And it is also not needed to work out a good storyline.
But as menthioned here maybe 50 times, let do ANOTHER screenwriter the story for ridley.

He said the movie was about the Progentitor to Alien..... that was before the movie and now after seems to drop hints that the Alien came from the Decon...
My thought was always that the Xeno Decon is mearly a way to show that a certain chain of events with the Black Substance can lead to the creation of a Face Hugger type Organism that leads to a Xeno type Organism.
So we can then assume that a simular chain of events may had happened before that created the Traditional Xeno... i would think that this Organism is what killed off those Engineers but then why was one alive? Well when i go back to the Giger Xeno Cycle it shows that a Engineer is using a Face Hugger against another Engineer to create the Xeno...
I think maybe this explains the holes in the sarcophagus.

so long as beautiful noomi and the fassbender are in it, enjoyment will follow.

Shambhala my thoughts exactly on the alien biting that blue gal from Avatar. I hope this sequel is like Avatar but in HELL. Like a Dante's Inferno meets Avatar. I'd go see that.

Go to a strange home-planet or whatever, but it has to be really STRANGE and WIRED, real sci-fi with FRESH ideas, no "human logic". No "City with buildings or cave - something DIFFERENT. Maybe this species is not from flesh and bones but some "energy". Or a huge Bacterium or Virus-Shape. Use your illusion.
Avatar was some kind of "disney-sci-fi-interpretation", i did not like it AT ALL.

MemberTrilobiteJun-12-2012 10:34 AMI think what Lindelof is saying is that Prometheus shows there is a link between the Engineers and the Xenomorph, but its Sequel will delve more into the history of the Engineers and how we fit into their plans.

I think you got the point also, and what i think ridley really want us to explore new world with new creatures and new species like the world of PROMETHEUS. The sequel have indicate for Shaw and David to explore the engineer's home world , that will make the story more interesting. Although i wish there's some connection between ALIEN, but I hope is not that obvious.............

MemberOvomorphJun-12-2012 10:49 AMTitle Paradise seems good to me, I like the ironic perception its meant to be like some kind of hell.
Lindelof did say that the sequel would tangentalise futher from Alien so yeh the whole Engineer mythology concept seems interesting and something fresh.
In my view Prometheus was just a way to get Alien fans to get a little nod to something familiar while introducing the engineers without giving too much away.
I really, really, really want a sequel, i'd even request a postponing of Blade Runner sequel for it as RS is 75 odd and only he can direct the engineer story in the best possible way.

MemberOvomorphJun-12-2012 2:59 PMIf there is a sequel I am hoping for a Giger style scary nightmare of a planet, filled with WTF type aliens and creatures and things that I have never seen before and are totally going to blow my mind and make me feel disturbed and terrified for years to come!
But back in the real word we will probably just end up with Shaw picking some humans up on her way to the engineer home world (because they need some people to be killed later) and everything there will be long dead and fossilized like the SJ in Alien. There might be some discovery of what the heck is all this about and then maybe something will go wrong and some people will die... and then nothing will get explained....AGAIN!!

MemberOvomorphJun-12-2012 3:17 PMWhat was the green goo by the door? Obviously someone went into the door at somepoint, without effecting the atmosphere. Why wasnt what ever was chasing the space jockeys visible ? These two questions are the biggest lil piecies of tease put out in the movie and no one thinks they are relevant. Rs mislead us before. Something was hunting them down at a furious rate.
