WHY IS EVERYONE NOT EXCITED ABOUT LIFE, THE MISSION, THE TECHNOLOGY

One thing that is hard to understand...the thrill of meeting a new life form and all theri technology is missing from this movie...It should dominate and all involved should be enthralled by it. Any other response doesnt make sense....I couldnt eat, sleep, procrastinate or ignore the pull and allure of investigating every single pyramid, space ship, opening, artifact, mural etc...I know everyone on this forum would do the same thing too...their are characters in the movie that act otherwise..I just dont get it....

I agree... I would have ran around touching everything just like David 8 but for different reasons...LOL. Yes all the new tech, history, a coming into contact with a new Sentient Species... WOW!

patch...we would be on drugs (stimulants) to keep us up (for the right reasons)...If you and me ever met up to discuss what we each found, who would go first? there is no end to the high of the find. Its like be locked up as a kid in toy r us and having the whole weekend to explore every aisle....whoa!

Vickers is the only one with any real foresight in this... she thought that they would possibly be dangerous or something and instructed them to make no contact. If they had listened to her and had she been in actual command, and they had not been so reckless then they likely would have lived- but that would be more boring. ...but... she could have survived!!!

If I'm not mistaken, there was a look of awe (or fear) on the faces of the crew as the SJ rose to his feet. This was a "first contact" scenario which as history has proven countless times on Earth among civilizations, is potentially very dangerous. The mistake (IMHO) that they made was their approach to this situation. They should have introduced themselves or shown some sort of reverence BEFORE requesting a favor. Could that have pissed off the SJ? Do they see themselves as gods and us minor lifeforms?
