Repairing David and piloting the Juggernaut

Alright, I saw RS state in an interview that Shaw will never put David's head back on - because he would be deadly again. However, I'm not sure she can keep it off either. I assume she would need help at some point, or perhaps something goes wrong with the ship - in either case, and since I'm not certain how Synthetics work in the Alien Universe (barring the general and vague AvP wiki entry on them), how would she repair David? Set his head back on and hope for the best? Or let him repair himself? Can his skin mend on its own (like human skin) after his wires and so forth are connected again? His head and body are intact (aside from some frayed edges around his neck) so would it be a stretch to think all his innards could be reconnected without major issues? And after the second viewing, I'm wondering how Shaw and David can pilot another juggernaut. That huge chair...is Shaw sitting in it with David's head in her lap? Is David connected to the console somehow? Did David set up some sort of auto pilot? Any insight would be nice, or maybe some more info on Synthetics in the Alien universe (besides the AvP wiki).

If Shaw had no intention of reconnecting David's body and head, then why go through all the effort of retrieving his body in the first place?

Well, the fanfic I'm working on...I'll just have to take some artistic liberties then. It might not be that much of a stretch to think there are tools on the Juggernaut that could help David - and yes, I'm sure that his behavior would be different - but for good or bad? It would be interesting to discover :)
If Shaw had no intention of reconnecting David's body and head, then why go through all the effort of retrieving his body in the first place?
THIS. Completely. I think RS might reconsider, and if he does, "oh look...there's David's body that Shaw conveniently brought with her. Let's reattach his poor head."

David is a case for the Weyland emergency repair unit.. then, if he was repaired his behaviour could be different, as he implied, because he is free. I, too wondered how they do that..the ending actually is poor..

@Daniel I was bummed when RS said that in the interview. It would be a shame to waste Fassbender as a...head. As for the cruelty...I can see that. Again we're dealing with Science fiction here, so as far as I'm concerned, anything goes. Even in real life, there are no certainties. The impossible could happen. Even robots with souls.

I think Shaw is bleeding internally and surviving on pain killers. If there is a part 2, Shaw will be dead and someone else will repair David, who is probably in power-save mode.

i would assume david is able to hack into the juggernaut system (kinda like cal in alien:resurrection) since he is able to communicate in engineer language, and pilot off into oblivion

Unless the `engineers` home planet is close by, how is she going to sleep on the ship? When the `engineer` got out of his sleeping chamber on the other ship that was destroyed, it looked like the mask and wires were connected to his suit and the back of his neck. Unless Shaw has enough food and sanity to stay awake for years on end to make it to their home planet...

Its funny that Shaw is portrayed as determined to get the Bio Engineers head at first near the begining of the film and here we have her towards the end of the film hell bent on retrieving Davids head as well. We saw that the Engineers head reanimation went awry so is there going to be something similar occur with Davids programming seemingly plugged into Juggernaught 2's flight systems? Afetr all, we know he was the instigator of Shaws boyfriends infection and as a result the cause of Shaw's mostrus incemination and impregnation. As I read it she still even up to that point had no idea what David had done and that part he had to play in that entire creature debacle... I wonder if she did, would she have been so readily concerned for the whereabouts of Davids head and so eager to retrive it? If she was she may have still decided that the knowledge he carried within his positronic net would be of vital importance.

My question is about David amd spare parts... Any android needs some maintainece..or supply of critcal parts..to keep the mission going.. Performning intricate connective android surgery as Shaw and David are off Engineer Home hunting...and David in severe need of attention...on an alien ship..this does not seem possible. In fact that would make it a good reason to have 2 or more Davids around Prometheus ,,if only to cannibalize parts as needed

With Weyland gone, why would David be deadly any more? He was just doing his master's bidding. Unless he could figure out a way to bring Weyland's dead body back to life, why would he do anything at all to harm Shaw?

why would he do anything at all to harm Shaw?" The second time I watched the film I got the feeling that David was doing certain things at his on discretion. When Shaw and Ford were working on the engineer head in the lab, after it exploded David said "Mortal after all" with a smile. Yet, he still takes Weyland to see the engineer to ask for the key to immortality. Right before this scene he conveys to Shaw that "All children wish to see their parents dead so that they may be free."

I thought that was an odd line from David. Certainly more to it than meets the eye. Although it was a question to Shaw, rather than a statement. It seems that he does have his own ethics - he effectively asked Holloway's permission before infecting him, for example. But at the same time he's underhanded - he didn't let Holloway know what he was up to. Or maybe it was just a twisted sense of deviancy that we saw, taking pleasure in Holloway talking himself into trouble.
