Prometheus: Alien Prequal, Bladerunner Sequel

I was wondering why Guy Pearce would be cast as Peter Weyland instead of an actual 'old' actor... He was great in the Ted Talk, but we never saw him young in Prometheus. Some suggest that he indeed had some screens that were cut where we would have seen him young...and he was already signed prior to those cuts. But doesn't it seem like a strange choice to put Guy in make-up like that? Not so weird if his character ties in with Bladerunner I guess. Has this already been worked out in another thread? Bladerunner - 2019 Prometheus - 2093 Michael Fassbender said he studied the replicants from Bladerunner in preparation for his role as David 8. So...is RS about to bridge the gap?
