*SIGH*
I loved that series back in the day. I still get to see it sometimes on cable.
But why do they have always to ruin the thing with re-makes? Aside from money...
No originality these days. It's sad.

Well, guys, considering Space:1999 only had one good season and two overall -- I don't have a problem with this re-imagining as long as its good. At least the producer of this is interfacing with fans (on the site forum and at the upcoming 1999 convention in California) to see what they want and don't want in the series.
That's a good start I think!

Yes that is excelent. Few people ever do that.
I didn't like the new V series though.
And GOD help us all if Buck Rogers gets redone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At first I thought they had just re- labelled Space 1999 by calling it Space2099, until I saw this

Every now and then I keep trying to see if there is a decent version of Dragons Domain about. That episode scared the crap out of me when I was younger.

ah it's a sort of remastering. cool

Hey Batch --
There was a remastering project called Space2099* but now it's a whole new series by a completely different team.
This is from the producer of the recent V remake. I wasn't thrilled with that either, but he IS a Space 1999 fan and seems to be listening to the fans as to what 2099 should be. I think it will be great to have a new space series on TV again at the very least!
*which I also supported since the new CGI worked well from everything I saw.

Just answer me this one please:
will the remastered version be selling or was it turned down?

Thanks for reminding me about this show, saw it a LONG time ago and even then saw only a few episodes and can only remember a piece of one ..... Something about a planet headed from the Moon and of course the base can't do anything about it, they think they're gonna die...and the planet passed through the Moon not killing anyone .....something like that.
I remember this as a really classy looking show with ok FX considering it was TV....I had no idea it was so short lived...too bad...had a good cast Bain, ,Landeau, and Morse..and was English and I thought damn I love all this English TV...smiles.
Like I said can't remember it much so it'll be fresh for me..I'm going to buy it now
Thanks Hudson
Oh btw....your av cracks me up everytime...Paxton was one of the best things in Aliens...long time fan

@ Hudson
Totally agree, it would be good to have new space series.
I'll keep my eye out for any new Space 2099 stuff, my only worry would be the design of the Eagle transporters. I thought they were well cool.

David --
The team remastering the episodes with new effects and calling it Space 2099, had put together a demo and pitched the concept to Carlton -- the company who owns the rights to Space 1999. Their proposal was rejected. Not only that, I believe they were told to cease and desist with regard to their effort. Therefore, no Space 2099 DVDs.
Assuming it goes into production, there will only be the all-new series Space: 2099 as produced by Jace Hall.

Forever War --
I really wish there was a reply button for each post here! :-)
HAHA!! Glad you like my Hudson avatar...it made me laugh when I found it! I agree Hudson was one of the best things about Aliens.
Glad to jog your memory with regard to 1999!! It really is a revelation on Blu Ray -- so if you have a Blu Ray player -- that's the way to go with this series on DVD! It really does look fantastic -- it's never looked better!!
The episode you mentioned is Collision Course and it's one of the best episodes of Year One! :-)

Sounds intriguing and a ufo film is also supposed to be in the pipeline shame the Anderson's aren't around to oversee both projects.
First series space 1999 was great second not so great but amusing.

Don't get overjoyed at Jace Hall's 2099 or his Forum.
The fans cannot influence it too any degree beyond possibly it's Look.
Hall has stated that the story is already in place.
Talk of leaked informaion claims the story isn't about moonbase alpha drifting on the moon in space but rather on a space ship. Hall will not admit or deny this.
Be prepared for a lost in space or star trek voyager type series.
What a shame after waiting all these years!
June 27, 2012
I know the poster shows that ship -- The Asimov -- on the moon's surface but there has been some discussion about what that ship is or whether it's seen beyond the pilot episode. If its just going to be another Voyager, Lost In Space, or SGU -- what's the point of doing it? Ugh.
There are creative ways of getting the moon out of orbit and into a populated region of space without having it "blasted out of orbit" as in the original!
I can only say I hope it's not another lost in space ship bound series.
It would be stupid to even waste money on that!!!
