AdminPraetorianJul-02-2012 7:16 PMI used to think the Aliens were female because of the "Hive" social structure Cameron introduced, sort of like ants. I have come to understand they are asexual or androgynous.

AdminPraetorianJul-02-2012 7:19 PM@Ravager; It means they are both male and female at the same time.

MemberOvomorphJul-02-2012 7:19 PMi dont get why they dont look exactly like the queen.

AdminPraetorianJul-02-2012 7:20 PM@Ravager, The Alien Queen; They don't look like her because she is unique, special. :)

MemberOvomorphJul-02-2012 7:54 PMthe queen is a girl though, and seens she is asexual, theres no use 4 a male, so their all female, like an ant hive: all ants are female except the king ant, who mates and then dies..... correct me if im wrong,

AdminPraetorianJul-02-2012 8:09 PM@Ravager, I THINK the person you want to talk to would be Snorklebottom, I think he knows about the kinds you are talking about (they are from the comic books). Here, we mostly talk about the movies which don't really have the types that are in the comic books. :)
And if the Queen mates then she is sexual, because she needs a male (the King) to make eggs with her. The movies don't go into that stuff.

Community ExecutiveMemberOvomorphJul-02-2012 8:14 PMIn ants.... you can have males and females , and the queen is the only one able to reproduction, she need copulate to have sperm .....she keep it inside of her for the time she need till next copulation, some eggs are fertilized and others are not that create the different kinds of ants in the colony.
The world will spin well past our last breath, but I will always care about you

MemberTrilobiteJul-03-2012 5:21 AM@ Svanya, thanks for the name drop, but I actually detest the comics...
But I'll give my view on this..
Queen - Female, but with the ability to produce eggs, incubating Facehuggers, themselves incubating fertilized embryo's.
Warriors (Ridged-Heads) - Female, but infertile. But with the ability (if required) to re-compose a host into an egg incubating a Royal facehugger.
Drones (Smooth-Heads) - Male, but infertile. But with the same ability as Warriors, (if required) to re-compose a host into an egg incubating a Royal facehugger (Brett in Alien).

MemberOvomorphJul-04-2012 7:36 PMI agree with you Ravager. As well as the rest of the comments here.
The comics lead more into logical answers of how things work. Though even the ants you refer to have evolution on their side. not all ants (Hymenoptera) are the same. I live in Hawai`i where we have a solitary wingless "wasp" being I don't believe it's a true "ant" though by all appearances it is. On top of that ants and wasps are synonomous of the same large family group. What I'm trying to say is life does different things in different environments. Life is controlled by different "elements"; food, water, etc. When food sources are low life is forced to do things it doesn't normally enjoy doing. Though when food is high life's doors are swung wide open and a feast is at hand. So saying this I'd believe the creature is more than capable of adapting to both sides equally. How is much left to us (In imagination, for creation).

AdminPraetorianJul-05-2012 12:01 AM@Ravager, The Alien Queen; No one knows for sure. The Deacon is just a baby atm, no one knows if it is a baby Queen or a new or older type of Alien. We will get more answers when the next 2 movies come out. :)

MemberOvomorphJul-05-2012 3:35 PMDeacon- female, completely first gen. It took the DNA of Halloway, Shaw, and the goo to produce the proto-hugger to then mix again with the Engineer. So technically it's of completely new origins which for a prequel doesn't help much on showing what fans and enthusiasts what they've A been wanting B what is to become. Cool idea for showing the DNA of xenomorph, in evolutionary action, but very open ended with little to tie things together with well.
My Opinionated Observation
