Sorry if this has been discussed already but there is still just too much of a difference between the SJ in Alien and the one in Prometheus the ASpace Jockey is way bigger than the other just look. Maybe the space jockeys are slaves and what was flying the ship on LV-426 was there creator what do you think?

I don't think that the Space Jockey in Alien created the Engineers, his kind appears to me to different than the Engineers who move about freely as we do...The Space Jockey seems purpose-designed for the derelict, for operating his ship and nothing else...I dont accept what anyone says, he is NOT an Engineer, this is a big continuity issue with me and it's so obvious that I have to beleive that Ridley is pulling our leg on a lot of that issue, so to speak. But the Space Jockey is somehow related to the Engineers, look at the ships..same general configuration, but different but also connected in some way, absolutely. The Space Jockeys may have been a species altered by the creators of the Engineers...freed from their ships. Or maybe the Engineers rebelled against their creators and freed themselves from that role...not sure...just not enough information there

in the same way that Aliens RUINED the Alien 'rogue entity' with a hive queen overlay, I think this 'Space Jockey is just a space suit for Engineers' narrative has RUINED what could have been about Elephant Gods in our galaxy. Sorry to have to say this. Screen writer on Pro2 and Pro3 has his work cut out avoiding TV Series-quality narrative excuses, imho. "I got a real bad feeling about this, Cletus,"

I have covered this before.... Space Jockey Size We have to remember the idea behind the Space Jockey in Prometheus is a 9ft tall Race..... Now Ridley has dropped a few errors when interacting the Engineer with Humans the Shaw vs Engineer scene is the worst where you can work out the Engineer to be no more than 7ft 5" Tall. He did the same in Alien by using Child Actors walking up to the Chair to create a illusion that made the pilot look about 15ft Tall. The Space Jockey Suits Hanging up just before the control/Orey Room are about 10ft Tall. Do i think both Pilots are the same race..... YES and Ridley has said so as well. They could be different heights for sure. So i would assume that the Engineers stand between 7 to 12ft Tall and so they may have some smaller and some larger just as we have with Mankind Where we can stand between 4.5ft and 7.5ft with smaller people classed as Dwarf Size and Taller as Giants.

As far as Slaves go..... Well yes i agree i think that they was created by another Race and i dont mean the Elders i think that even they are also created by some other higher being/race.

Yea @Jokey Hunter I myself totaly agree with you about the origianl Space Jockey being a different spieces then the Engineers. By the way @ Big Dave, Ridley actually used his children for the Space Jockey scene. Now back to my view on the Space Jockey. If you look closely at the Space Jockey you will see that the elepantine nose is made out of bone. I say this because if you pay close attention his rib cage is blown out and the remaining top half of his rib cage is attached to the long nose. So how can metal or whatever material they made there suit of be directly attached to there chest which is made out of bone material. I also support my theory with HR Giger who was influenced by HP Lovecraft who was a science fiction Horror writer. Mr. lovecraft wrote about biengs like the original Space Jockey. Beings that were Elepnatine in nature. For example the creature in Prometheous who looks like a giant octopus. HP wrote about beings like this also. He was way out there.Thats just my theory on the whole matter.

I think they also have positional hierarchy. driver is driver, manager is manager and biologist or weapon specialist are what they are. if humans have assigned roles, why not these species?

I agee @Sky. Also at the begining of the movie we see a space ship in the back ground. But it is a traditional ship. May that be a ship that the Space Jockeys use?

Have we established the number of years from the 'traditional' ship at the beginning,,to the Juggernaut??? I assume there was an evolution,,but the designs are quite bit different,,

Good point @Indy John. But the thing is that, the Alien Space Jockey looks so regal in its chair. It took center stage of that part of the film with its long arms, wide chest and massive arms. It was one of my favorite parts of the film.
