Big fan of the 4 original movies, especially the first two which are classics in my eyes. I was wondering if any of you have read any of the Aliens comic books from Dark Horse Comics & what you thought of them in relationship to the movies.
The "Aliens: FemaleWar/Earth War" storyline could have made a good "Alien 3" movie. We see Ripley, Hicks and an older Newt travel to the Alien Homeworld to capture and use the Alien Queen Mother (different from a regular Alien Queen) in order to wipe out the Alien race which has now invaded Earth. We also briefly see the Enginners/Space Jockeys.
(note: in some versions of the comics, Hicks and Newt have different names)
In this comic book and certain others, it is stated that this Alien Queen Mother is the genesis of all the Alien race. Her disposition is quite odd and intriguing: prehistoric look, no arms, she resides/hides inside a very large orb or bulb that ressembles a giant egg (or egg sac) on top of which she towers over when it is time for her to come out. Her huge central orb-bulb is surrounded by four or five smaller bulbs, all connected to the central one by organic, fleshy vines. These smaller bulbs contain the Queen Mother's fully-grown bodyguards/protectors (and perhaps they also contain eggs?). The comics however do not explain the Alien Queen Mother's reproductive cycle and how/if she lays eggs. Sometimes we see her in her huge orb-bulb, and at other times she seems to have an egg sac attached to her abdomen.
Again in "Aliens: Female War", but also in "Aliens: Rogue", "Aliens: Genocide" and other comics, we see a variety of interesting/odd Xeno characters and storylines: the First-Born Xenos (they are shaped differently and serve as bodyguards to the Alien Queen Mother); a human-engineered Alien "King"; royal jelly and how it is used by both humans and Aliens, etc...
Besides a certain lack of explanation and detail, which creates a bit of confusion at times and a certain lack in continuity, many of these stories are fun to read. Perhaps some of these concepts or stories may be applied to a Prometheus sequel?
Any thoughts/comments about anything mentioned above?
Have a good week Xeno fans!
