Based on other movie ship deigns,,the Bridge, just does doesn't seem right..
There are few other issues about the running of the ship and crew responsibilities,,,but than can wait if there is any community interest..

To me there are way too many, way way way too many things F'd up in this movie of this kind of magnitue, it's turning in to:

All I want to know is, was every last bit of this intentional (excluding the occasional mishaps that EVERY movie has)
Than if so, I want strong proof.
Or
Was all of this just more than occasional mishaps that every movie has, but just that much more and this movie should have been reviewed over again in the editing room and everyone be fired?
Either way I'm interested in your opinions but I am no longer going to ignore all of the messed up things that I noticed, and a billion other people noticed.
So you have my attention and let em rip because to me, all of this questioning is more interesting than the actual movie itself anymore!!!

Why do you say that the Bridge section of the Ship doesn't look right? Could you be more specific?

I thought in Pro Janek stood between to seated points as an anchor (he who ultimatley says what goes)... would just be cinematical different from other films of the genre.
What I want to know is manuy things... but this sticks out for me...
... Janek telss Fifeild and Milburn that one of the propes(pups) picks up a sygnal.. then eliberates It's reasding a life form and then furthers to say that it just disapeared actually!
Now for aaalllllllllllllllllllll the flaws - Janek sees the pile of Enginner bodies on the screen, but makes a move on Vickers and just drops monitering the stranded crew (is not a ship's capt like a driver of any vehicle?-so there his resposibilty lies). He leaves the bridge (like it wouldn't record any signal from the crew and electro static my ass because he sees some of what their talking about!
The promise of sex over two people's lives?
I don't see a ship's Capt on an alien planet yrs from Earth ignoring stranded crew on the promise of a bit of rufty Now that I don't buy!

Punx, maybe some of the missing 30 minutes would iron out Janek's behavior and timing. Or maybe Mr Lindelof just thought, "Hey! Time for a romantic interlude!"
Difficult to tell with Mr L.
Oh, a rhyme!

You have a great point! What I like a lot about the bridge of the Prometheus, is that is "kind of similar" of the Nostromo. A couple of days ago I re-watched Alien, and you can tell that the ships were made by the same "evil company".
Ok, ok, I have friends that have told me - Why the computers and screens of the Prometheus look very advanced and the Nostromo have kind of a DOS system - And my answer, as stupid as may sound is - The Nostromo crew were miners and the Prometheus crew were scientists...-

during the landin scenes the captain was just standing there, if they hit some turbance he would thrown around and unable to control the ship. but i think he was just "grand standing ' in front of vickers. it was the ofter two guys flying the ship the whole time.
under the circumstance theres no way " getting some " would be on my mind.
"how do you feel?"-" great, next stupid question"

THanks for all the posts on this thread,,,I ask seeking additionl observations on the function and layout of control center of the Prometheus.
Last year on a cruise ship we had a chance to vist the Bridge,,and see not only meet Captain and the many others used in controlling a rathar large vessel.
Our movie ship seems to be way to complicated to use in inter steller space treavel with the crew presented,,and what limited views I had of the helm so to speak.(and only just a few decades in the future)
It has been several weeks since the show and I didn't pay that much attention as i was trying to process the storyling and visuals.
@Skipo's comment .."..that the ships were made by the same "evil company".."
is very good as it shows some continuity that RS included as a nod to the 'Alien' movie..
Perhaps what I expected was more of Captain Kirk barking the orders,,and his crew heading the mission.
(That would be a good thread to start on another board)

Additional thinking gave me some additional thoughts on the size of the crew and size of the Bridge..
When the Juggernaut takes off(presumably heading to Earth..there was only one Engineer controlling the ship and mission.
In fact in 'Alien' there only the 7 crew members ..total.
So maybe it is just not that important..how many crew are needed,,or equipment that is used in the Prometheus,,as long as the storyline contiinues

It's a spaceship, designed for a survey mission.
Janek has a great 3D view of the surroundings, which is exactly what he needs.
Why is the captain of an airliner up front at critical moments? Does it worry you that he's not tucked away in the tail somewhere?
The most terrifying fact about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent

SvanyaJuly 23, 2012
I agree with zzplural on this, no way the Captain should be hidden and I am very sure the ships design is extremely safe, especially the bridge where he is standing.

Additional:
@Indy john has a great point that Janek is not controlling the ship as Chance says as his reason to stay and ultimatley die(surface comment) "Your a sh*t pilot".
And I figure way Vickers aims herself at Janek.. he is the highest authoriy apart from her (WHAT IS HER POWER WORTH, IT SEEMS ALMOST TRANSPARENT)
And yes @Xenodochy we may get more info from cut scenes but...
"No piece of art needs notes, and no good film needs a Blueray/DVD explanation"
That said (and I can see all the faults) I love it... but I watch it and listen to music - like Star Wars you don't need sound like an old b-a-w movie(now all I can think of is watching Metropolis) and in this case you don't need to listen to Mr. L's limping script.
And I third ZZplural!

"..Vickers aims herself at Janek.."
  @punx
I had not thought of this line of thinking.. Vickers always seems to try to prove hrself..or worth..and getting the Captain in line,,gives her some leverage.
PS: THnx for the vehicle pix from Coventry..

Thanks for your comments! It's superb your reference from Star Trek, but in my opinion "the Alien-Prometheus Universe" is closer to our reality, - Evil corporations are above goverments and focus on profits -. That is what I think, Janek was only an employee and following orders. The Federation was above everything, and probably use corporations seeking other things, not money.
But well, only a geek imagination.
