AdminEngineerJul-25-2012 1:37 AMI know this has been discussed from alternate angles already. But, it just occurred to me recently that maybe the evidence to support our theory has been in front of us all along. That theory being, that Prometheus' sequel is in fact titled "PARADISE" and that is was filmed alongside Prometheus all in one go.
Let's recap:
1 - Security for Prometheus' filming was very strict. Not much got out. What did get leaked was quickly removed.
2- For a good year, the film was untitled, going by "Alien Prequel" for ages until about 2 years back, the official title "PROMETHEUS" was revealed to the public.
3- Later on, we learned that the "original title" of Prometheus was "PARADISE" before being renamed to Prometheus, relatively last-minute.
Okay, point #3 doesn't site well with me. Why change the name last minute? And if it was last minute, WHY did we see set photos of some "Clapboards" or "Movie Markers" entitled with PARADISE?
That means they were filming with Paradise as being their working title... Yet, wouldn't the name change take place before the filming begins? Doesn't that occur in the scripting stage? Now, I'm not very knowledgeable about these processes as some of you might be, and I do realize that the "Return of the Jedi" was named that even after filming wrapped up, but still. Seems odd to me.
Also, in various other threads supporting this theory - some filming locations were never seen int he film.
It seems silly to me, that Ridley had full scale model sets built for Prometheus, which could be re-used in Paradise - only to have them torn down, to be rebuilt at a later time when filming for Paradise begins. This to me seems like a waste of time, money and effort - something studios are not fond of doing. It's all about efficient use of time, space and resources and with movies like AVATAR and MAD MAX sequels being filmed simultaneously, it wouldn't surprise me if this was the case with Paradise as well.
So, all this being said and with supporting discussions by other members which can be found in these forums, it is certainly possible that part of, if not all of Paradise was already filmed and ready for "relaunch" sometime soon.
Could it be 10.11.12? Personally, I doubt it. As Prometheus will not have hit every country by that time yet it would seem silly, marketing wise. Some need to wait quite a while before seeing Prometheus to begin with. But will we get a teaser trailer perhaps? Maybe. Anything is possible. Maybe a link to Paradise can be found in the collector's edition BluRay - who knows.
But it certainly raises some questions. Any thoughts on this? Any theories to add? Post them below.

The Magellan was the name for the humans ship before its name was changed to Prometheus, as explained in the Art of Prometheus book.
