Here is a very interesting video with new ideas about what might have happened in Prometheus.

Thanks, finally an art critique! I feel this movie was a piece of art beyond just the visuals, i agree with this reviewer's technique and analysis. Cinema is an art form as much as painting or writing, and it's fitting to evaluate it as such. Nicely referenced ideas, i can't believe this guy goes on for 20 minutes, that's so much longer than most video reviews, I think it shows how much he's thought about it. thanks for the post

This video has been posted and discussed before. Thanks for posting. added: I watched and felt he did a great job of presenting his version of Prometheus and the underlying symbolism that was ever present in the film. Again thanks for posting and keep them coming.

It has been posted before - but I too enjoyed it very much. A very in depth and artistic take on Prometheus, definitely worth a watch for those who haven't seen it yet.

Yes prometheus was piece of art but what would prometheus be if it were a painting? Maybe this? : A piece of modern art that said nothing? And let the people make up what they want about the story :D ? Heh no I think there was a bit more to it but it did feel like one of these modern paintings at times - one for the suckers - yuck!

And yet you've amassed 225 posts on a forum dedicated to a film you think was horrible. What should I deduce about your level of maturity and intelligence from that?

I hope the other 2 paintings aren't the sequels :P .... Anyway mr Nik just to explain were I am coming from that was a bit of fun that's why I said "heh no I think there was a bit more to it" I did actually love parts but hated other parts the blank art is only parts of the film other parts were interesting...was a great over all idea but just fell way short of a classic...it was a 6 out of ten for me type film that could of been a 10...And I hold hope for the sequels and viral stuff etc.....that 6 out of ten includes a hope that there's more to this than in this film because if that's it my score will drop :( ...its awful for a stand alone film...

Films can be a very personal journey for the viewer, with emotions and experiences finding themselves intertwined within the context of the film.

Loved alien - like I said that part was a bit of a joke - it was a strange film like the worst ever sci-fi cut together with one of the best!...I meant more that it had the style of modern art - letting the viewer make up there own conclusions. Too much vagueness can be a bad thing...just hope the future media clears a few things up...

@Crabfart...Did I read that wrong or does "one for the suckers" imply that those people who did enjoy the film and it's ambiguity are suckers?

Its more complex than that ...I know I wont convince some people but the vagueness of some parts wasn't a problem no for most of it but it did go too far in this department as a stand alone film in other parts - this may be rectified if it is part of a bigger plan of course! It was some of the choices of the makers of the film that was the worst part I found. And the suckers are to type of people that look at blank canvases and say : "its sooo deep!" which allot of people see as the 'it was a master piece' '...so deep' type people in relation to prometheus. I enjoyed the film but master piece it was not!

Nothing particularly mind-blowing about the video. I liked the symbolist approach, but everything in it has been said before, and its so full of factual errors and quoted material that is just bullshit that the overall effect becomes a bit banal. No one disputes that Prometheus was trying to be deep and meaningful. But Scott is no Kubrick, and Lindelhof has always been a calvinball shyster. The movie failed on so many levels.

Failure carries its own rewards. The mythology is far bigger than Prometheus. Hybole is fascinating to watch. :) Giger's wonderous mysteries have already been reduced to two-dimensional Star trek white guys in rubber suits. They seem to have shrunk quite a bit as well.

If 2001 can go on to be a classic despite how vague it is, how many unanswered questions it raises, not to mention how corny what little acting is in it is, then Prometheus will no doubt go on to be a classic. Just because you don't like a film doesn't make it a failure. I love 2001 the book but hate the movie yet the movie went on to be unbelievably considered a classic a few years after its release despite the hugely mixed reviews it got when it first opened, much like Prometheus. All the whinging by alien fanboys makes Fifield and Milburn look bloody brilliant in comparison. I certainly never gave out my email, joined a forum and amassed hundreds of posts about how bad Battlefield Earth sucked. I think some people on here need more hobbies. I'm so glad Ridley didn't consult with alien fanboys when making Prometheus because whenever I read their trollish posts of what they thought it should have been, it becomes apparent why they are are forum trolls rather than film makers themselves, let alone even professional critics considering the redundant, penis nosed, cheesefest they wanted to see on screen.

the critics who rated prometheus average are the same muppets who drool over the hobbit. go figure. let the muppets have their time. we'll keep our movies afloat. all we need is for a movie to be budgeted at 120-150 and real fans need to make it about 300m. we can then keep our fantasies alive while muppet trolls and reviewers praise the bobbin biggins frodo and harry floater and the drug dealers ring.
